Earlier this week at the Oculus Connect 4 event took place in San Jose, California. It’s hard to believe they held a whole event for VR-loving fans of the classic 1970s Milton Bradley four-in-a-row family game, but they did. When attendees weren’t trying to drop four red or yellow counters in a line, they had their first chance to go hands-on with the upcoming multiplayer virtual reality shooter from Ubisoft’s Montpellier studio, Space Junkies.
Strap on a jetpack and fight it out in microgravity orbital arenas (or Orenas) – where attackers can come from every direction. With a wide range of weapons to use, races to play (from humans to crab-like aliens), and silly VR hand gestures to make, Space Junkies is already looking very promising. Check out the trailer below for proof.
If you’re interested in VR, shooting, and hand-based dancing (voguing, hand-jiving, jazz-hands and possibly the Macarena) – why not find out more about Space Junkies’ closed beta by visiting the website at http://spacejunkiesgame.com – and check out the screens below.
Space Junkies is set for release on Oculus Rift + Touch and HTC Vive + controllers in Spring of 2018. For all the latest news, stay tuned to the Closed Ubisoft Blog.
