Trainers? I’d rather have a nice pair of brogues, or maybe a comfortable slip-on – perhaps something with a velcro fastening. But thanks to a collaboration between Assassin’s Creed Origins and sneaker artist Dominic Lowman of Carmeno Custom Kicks, I now know a thing or two about trainers.
First up, “Yeezy” isn’t just the noise you make when you fail to hold in a sneeze, it’s also a popular range of trainers birthed by Adidas and popular musician / wife of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West. Secondly, customised trainers are a big deal – particularly customised Yeezys (gesundheit).
Influential trainer-customiser Lowman recently took 16 pairs of standard Yezzys and gave them an Assassin’s Creed Origins makeover. Let’s take a look behind the scenes in the following video:
After researching the ancient Egyptian game-world created by Ubisoft’s Montreal studio for Origins, Lowman applied the same themes to the Yeezys in the inimitable style that’s earned him upwards of 60 thousand “sneakerhead” Instagram followers. He said of the collaboration, “it’s been so cool to work with Ubisoft on designing the Assassin’s Creed Origin’s sneaks. For me, sneaker culture is a perfect representation of popular culture right now and it’s been amazing to merge this with a gaming franchise to create something that is not only wearable, but rich with history and a back story.”
The trainers will only be available as competition prizes, so for more details stay tuned to the @ubisoftuk Twitter feed.
Assassin’s Creed Origins arrives on Xbox One, PS4 and PC next Friday, October 27th. For more details, check out our previous coverage and – of course – keep it Ubisoft Blog.
