Following is a statement directly from the Watch Dogs development teams.

Watch Dogs

Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated.

We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it.

Watch Dogs

Release date — May 27, 2014
Developer — Ubisoft Montreal
Players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who, with the help of his smartphone, will use his ability to hack into Chicago’s central operating system (ctOS) and control almost every element of the city. Aiden will be able to tap into the city’s omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control systems such as traffic lights or public transportation to stop a chase, and more. • jim on October 15, 2013
        It applies to everything.

As much as I was looking forward to this game, this just means a better polished PC version and not a crappy console port

If we've pre-ordered from, like say Amazon to get the extras, should we contact them me to make sure that they keep our order?
          • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
Pierre: yes, please contact the retailer directly. Amazon is addressing this directly with customers.

What kind of improvements will it have?

Is it because you wanted to get money for an INCOMPLETE game by pre-orders?

Is Gboy the same gboy i think he is??
          • Chunky on October 17, 2013
Ubi soft don't get any money from preorders until the game is released. The money stays with whoever you bought it from. Gboy.

I was fucking waiting my ass off for tomorrow only to be disappointed because i just found out it was delayed and I honestly don't care much because it is probably for the best but did anything change with it being for the Xbox 360 and PS3 because there is no way in hell i'm going to buy a Xbox One or PS4 just because of one game? Please get back to your costumers soon! We don't want to be screwed over even worse with this one.

This is complete bs. Please just put the game back out on its original date! I no it's never been done before, you guys are really screwing us over big time. You guys are going to loose alot of loyal customers. We were only 5 weeks away. No publisher has ever done this. You guys don't understand what you guys are doing. Millions of people bought next gen systems to play this game. Please if you guys have a heart, you'll release it on the original date pleaseeee!!!
      • Andre on October 17, 2013
I think they are being greedy and don't want AC4 to compete with watch dogs !
        • James on October 27, 2013
Thats a good point, but most people will buy both anyway because AC is an established franchise with loyal users and watchdogs is new, original and looks amazing.

      • disappointed Customer on October 18, 2013
I was looking forward to this so much, it was one of the best looking games. Well you know what Ubisoft -I am going to cancel my preorder. I totally agree with Andre: "I think they are being greedy and don't want AC4 to compete with watch dogs !" Looks like we've got another 'EA' on the way.
        • Dj on October 18, 2013
Are you fucking kidding me? You're acting like a spoiled single child that has been told that he can't have the puppy in the window. Big deal if they have delayed it or if they don't want it to compete with another of their products, it is their decision, if you were a fan of the concept, the game or the company then you would accept their decision. They're being greedy? they are making a decision to allow them time to make the best product they can to satisfy your greedy guts. Get the fuck off your high horse, keep your god damned preorder because it will be a high quality product and learn the meaning of patience you self-centered, puss fueled twit, this is coming from someone else that has preordered the game, can't wait for the release and guess what, doesn't mind that it has been delayed to be produced at an even higher standard than what I was expecting. Sometimes, customers are just twats with money. This is one of those times, and you sir, are one of those ghastly people.
          • Gregor Eisenhorn on October 21, 2013
Sir, i came here to give you one million internet points for this answer. Emperor protects!

          • FANEKO on October 31, 2013
The "release date" is JUNE 20! It's not a couple of weeks. I already ask for my refund, if they want my money they'll have to wait until june.

          • nick on November 13, 2013
To the person above you do know Ubisoft doesnt get any money really till it goes live right? also its the retailer that pays for the game then sells the game to make money....God are people this stupid
          • Stark on December 26, 2013
DJ, I agree completely, take a look at BF4, DICE asked for more time, but EA didn't give it to them, and now we got what we got, it is still a great game, but with a little more time, and polishing, all the small things, bugs, crashes, etc, that in my opinion truthfully ruin the experience, could have been fixed. Same with WatchDogs, Without a doubt, this is going to be one great game, but by giving it a few more months, its gonna be even better, and I, for one, would rather have a better experience, even if it involves waiting some more. To those of you who want to revoke your per-orders, well the only one you are hurting is yourself, because you are going to be missing out on an awesome game!
      • the assassin on November 2, 2013
ubisoft did the same thing with ghost recon future soldier. when the game came out, i bought it immediately, and it turned out to be unfinished, and so full of bugs you cant even get past the middle of the campaign...multilayer is even more messed up, and there isn't a single player on PC anymore........i am glad they extended the date o watch dogs, the game looks amazing, and they don't want what happened to GRFS to happen to this game. trust me, the game will be way more awesome then it would have been had they not changed the release date.
        • bernadette on April 3, 2014
how to download watch dogs in pc
      • Anonymous on November 2, 2013
Get over yourself. The game has to be finetuned. Simple as that. Think of how many times GTA 5 was delayed, and how great it turned out to be. "If they have a heart", then they would give us a completed version of the game, not riddled with bugs. Please if you have a heart, you'll think before you post a stupid comment like that pleaseeee!!!
      • nick on November 13, 2013
Wrong there has been other games that gotten pushed back... Google it
    • anonymous on October 25, 2013
I don't really think it was that horrible that they delayed the game actually I really think that it will get better, and ladies please cut with that language this is ubisoft we're talking about this has to be good
    • d3ff on November 21, 2013
Ur obviously not the brightest light in your house.... Next generation games ain'T the same as next-gen consoles , Altough its true that with the coming of next-gen games the nex-gen consoles will be there asswell basically yes the game will be next gen even on just won't be as polished and flawless on it... I for one respect the descision of the dev team:they could release it now on crappy ps3 graphics but then the world would've seen all of it by the time it gets released on the newer gen of consoles an see the proper version as just a remake...
    • andreas liebach on December 21, 2013
It counts for both, but i pre-ordered it on coolshop and its coming out the 28th of march
  2. Nick on October 15, 2013
That's good! We would love to see even better quality content from you!
    • Skater_Ricky on October 15, 2013
Totally agree, I'm okay with waiting a little longer as long as the game is complete by the time we get our game in our hands. More developers need to be open minded with this as well. With a polished game equals a better experience and a better review.
      • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
        Thanks for understanding.
        • Dave on October 15, 2013
I understand wanting to publish your game to the best quality possible and the quality you aimed for from the get go...But to delay it for 1 year, if that much work is needed surely you would have known well in advance of 1 month prior to the scheduled release date?
          • Chris on October 15, 2013
I have to agree with this. Surely you guys could have told us sooner than this...
          • Eric on October 15, 2013
Huh? Spring is 4 months from original release date.
          • ubyinm on October 16, 2013
nah its 4 months... cause its american... just like gta 5 was delayed until fall 2013
          • Dave on October 16, 2013
@Eric I don't pay attention to months, I though it was Spring near the end of the year xD But even if it's only 4 the original question/point still stands. Were they trying to squash 5 months work into the final month?
          • jsb on October 16, 2013
"Spring near the end of next year..."WTF? Are you trolling or do you really not know when Spring happens? Or maybe you live in the Southern Hemisphere?
          • Matt on October 17, 2013
Actually it say spring, so it's set for about a 5 to 7 month delay tops, and knowing the industry around that time it'll probably be a March release. 5 to 7 months is probably the time needed to polish and bug test the entire product.
          • nick on November 13, 2013
not really a year....... its 8 months if you count Oct when you posted this or 7 if you count Nov since im posting in this month and last I look there 12 months
        • FUCK YOU UBISOFT on November 3, 2013

          • nick on November 13, 2013
You must be a moron and have no clue about any type of coding or game designs.......Also how many time GTA5 got pushed back? hmm
        • roshaan on November 3, 2013
Ubisoft why? That is total bs excuse for delaying .For five years what were ubisoft doing in development?I wouldnt even minded a buggy Watch Dogs game to play.
          • yeahright on December 23, 2013
yeah right. you would have been yelling all over the place that the game is shitty because its too laggy.
      • the assassin on November 2, 2013
yah, would not want another ghost recon future soldier. i have never beaten the game, and it is kinda dead on PC...

    • Cathy on October 16, 2013
Don't take too long, I have pre-ordered and EBGames already has my money.
      • Dj on October 18, 2013
For future reference, even after you have made a preorder, you can actually cancel it for a full refund at EB, however, I suggest that you avoid doing this whenever possible because it could mean that you miss out on whatever special/collector's edition that you had reserved if it sells out by the time you try to order it again. Especially avoid doing this for games like Watchdogs, I mean, giving that it was almost release time originally, the DEDSEC and Vigilante editions both have probably almost sold out, which would suck to miss out on.
  4. Haydn on October 15, 2013
Take as long as you like, most big releases that I want come out in spring 2014 anyway
  5. Matheus on October 15, 2013
    Thats a BIG HUUUUGEE B....S.... !!!
  6. renz62 on October 15, 2013
What?!?? NOOO!!!I was very stoked with this one! I can't believe we still have to wait another half year for an awesome game...
    • diddy on October 15, 2013
      ikr...thats some b.s.
    • Parko on October 15, 2013
The game will probably end up being a more finished product and require less updates. This may be for the better, but yeah, it sucks to have to wait until 2014 for this game.
      • Nitro-Nito on October 15, 2013
Yeah, but I would much rather have constant updates and play a game, then wait half a year for the release, which they will inevitably have updates for too. That being said, it really sucks that they're one of the few great launch titles of the next generation. I hope they plan to compensate with something, even if it's small; a free character skin DLC, or a code for a dynamic background theme, anything would be nice (at least for people who went to the trouble of pre-ordering)
        • Kasey on October 15, 2013
This is actually a good thing, I'm personally glad that they decided to do this, because what if they release the game and it has the same kind of game breaking bugs that Fallout New Vegas does or that Skyrim had for half of a year? Where the game will crash or it'll stop refreshing cache so the framerate would drop to 1-2fps? Falling through the map? Etc etc. If they've delayed it, it's most likely to fix some pretty big bugs that would have a HUGE impact on gameplay.I support this decision.
        • Operator on October 15, 2013
          Amen to that.
        • ubyinm on October 16, 2013
why do they have to compensate? they are releasing a better, more refined game?? is that not compensation enough? yeah it sucks, but i think getting a more polished game that has higher quality and less bugs is a much better release than a buggy, not finished game. i dont understand why they should give you compensation when theyre making a product, which they then sell to you
    • yeahright on December 23, 2013
guys, if u were looking forward to this game and got bummed, just buy AC4 and get done with this. AC4 is the best game ive ever seen, so stop whining on a delayed game and do what you can do right now. it's not like your whimpering will release the game or something.
  7. Joao Grácio on October 15, 2013
Please use those additional months to bring 60 fps for the next gen consoles
    • TedL on October 17, 2013

  8. Steve Mazagheti on October 15, 2013

  9. xOneSainTx on October 15, 2013
I guess the pressure from GTA5 being a masterpiece scared Ubisoft. Probably adding more areas and more to the open world/mini missions
    • Envy on October 15, 2013
Um dude GTA V is no masterpiece it was good but no masterpiece and frankly not worth for them delaying the game it blows but they are making sure it is as bad ass as they have shown and we feel it is
      • ZBlacktt on October 15, 2013
So this! GTAV is FAR from anything to brag about. They have a world of issues going on themselves because they DID put out a game with no beta testing and poor quality checks. Broken online with many issues and exploits. Same goes for the single player mode, many exploits. Now they are saying sorry and giving players $250k in game money at the end of the month....
      • tbag on October 15, 2013
GTAV owns you moron This game can't compete
        • Gallad on October 15, 2013
show more respect, UBISOFT's personnel are professionals, they are not delaying the release for nothing...
        • Trickstar on December 4, 2013
Mate, GTA V will be under a pile of dust when this comes out.
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
Not at all. I'm personally a big fan of GTAV, and so are many of the passionate gamers here at Ubisoft. But the Watch Dogs team started work a few years ago with the vision to build the first truly next-gen new IP, which is a huge undertaking. We won't compromise on the quality and the experience of Watch Dogs, even if it means our initial timeline proved too ambitious. Ubisoft’s long-term goal is to be the best developer of next-gen games, and this starts with Watch Dogs. That's always been the goal, and it remains the goal to this day.
      • Grindhead_Jim on October 15, 2013
No matter how disappointed I am, I am grateful that we will get the game we were promised, not most of it, and a Springtime patch. Thanks for being straight with us, Gary.In a "your way right away" world, I know how upset a lot of folks can be about stuff like this, but, I'd rather wait for the game I've been sold on. Period. Ubisoft, you have yet to disappoint me with a game, so I trust you that this is the right decision. See you in the Spring.
        • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
Can't wait to run into you in Chicago. Thanks for understanding, Jim.
          • agasti on October 16, 2013
Now that they have announced the delay, please do not do something like prey 2. i think title is never coming out and when we gamers play it , don't make us feel that the delay was for nothing (if we have something to compare with)
        • John P. on November 11, 2013
I was reading through these comments and this pretty much sums up exactly how I was feeling. Early game videos and announcements made me stoked for this release. I was unaware of the delay until I called GameStop today, but after reading this I completely understand. Even though I must wait a little longer for Watch Dogs, I can proudly say I am an owner of the game and cannot wait to get my hands on the physical copy. Looking forward to Spring and not failing my exams by playing too much Watch Dogs.
      • ubyinm on October 16, 2013
The game looks incredible and I cant wait to play it. Though it sucks that it has been delayed, i would much prefer to pay money for a well polished and complete game, rather than a rushed game, with bugs and dodgy crackfilla everywhere. And it is such an original game! A lot of the people raging are just butthurt. Yes i can understand people being annoyed, but if it is really such an important thing that they get this game on a certain, then they have issues.
      • FUCK YOU UBISOFT on November 3, 2013
"Compromise", fuck off. You lazy douchebags just didnt make your deadline of FUCKING 5 YEARS and you say it only 1 month before release. BURN

It's always better to have a game meet it's full potential then for it to be rushed so I guess while it is a bit of a shame that it wont be out for Christmas it is better in the long run and I'll still pick it up.
  17. Parko on October 15, 2013
This is a little disappointing, but if it's for the better then I'm all for it. Will patiently wait to play this next spring!
  18. Tim on October 15, 2013
I'm sad, YESBut if they really make the game that much better then I'm ok. Exceptations are higher then high for this game. I just hope the extra time can solve all the problem and make this a master piece for next year.
  19. George M. on October 15, 2013
I really appreciate the fact that you guys opted for a delay to polish the game and try to deliver a better experience instead of choosing to deliver a broken game like so many other companies do. I have always embrace a delay that is going to bring us a better game. So many companies need to learn from you guys. Thanks.

Thank you for making the decision to put out an unfinished game. Hopefully this will give you time to make it even better, add additional content and take it to the next level. GTA V set the bar high i hear. I wonder if this game will have any relation to assassins creed. don't reveal if it does, let us find out in game.

people complaining just stop. Imagine if rockstar had delayed GTA V and fine tuned everything before the release. There would have been few issues. I'd rather a better game later than a crappy game now.
    • sharpie35 on October 15, 2013
They did.... It was originally slated for spring 2013. And they still screwed it up.

Not going to use foul language or bash UBISOFT, however, I must agree with the fact that they are now saying SUMMER2014 UBI might want to confirm or deny. I truthfully as a fan of the game (who doesn't play many video games i.e. 2-5 a year at most). There are only a few that come along that really catch my interest. The last being GTA3. I enjoy the never been done before game play and how it all makes sense. Many have assumed the game will be more polished. I personally expect a better game than what I was originally announced. Had it released on the date or a month or 2 later I could have dealth with a few isolated bugs. 6+ months after that I expect this game to push the limits of the PS4/xbox1 and do it FLAWLESSLY.
  24. mozoa on October 15, 2013
Way to kill a hype y'all
  25. A Fan on October 15, 2013
Hey,nice to hear that you are still working and improving things.I dont know if voices are heard but PLEASE: make the infiltration of Ctos Centers more appealing. I want to break in some dark server rooms and hack the systems. I dont just want to jump from camera to camera staying outside of the mainframes and click "hack". Games that showed depth in such mechanics are system shock 1 (sure, way to elaborate with cyberspace) or bioshock (minigames to hack). Also: why can i hack the cameras of a highly secure ctos mainframe center when the area is not unlocked yet? These two issues really are the ONLY things - considering my informational resources i have about the game - that i could see improved.Thank you for making this gameyou kick ass

      • Anaxagoras on October 15, 2013
While it saddens me to wait even more for the the game that seems likely to be my favorite of the year, I rejoice at this news, for I will take a long wait for a polished game over a short wait for a rushed, incomplete one any day.In addition, I agree with the first point A Fan brought up. A little bit of server room sneaking does sound much like a fun endeavor; The second one does not bother me. My heartfelt appreciation for taking the burden of reaching out to the community.
      • Ben on October 16, 2013
How about: to hack the cameras, you need to get their security code off one of the specific guards? That way you still have a way to hack all the cameras without, being forced to go into the fight, or stealth around to much, but ay least it's makes a lot more sense and it will in courage players who don't want to use stealth at first, to at least give it a go! It would not only add extra relisim, but it would be showing players more of the selection you have for them! Thank you for bothering to read this. P.S because you can be in areas without hacking connection or whatever, would it be possible for players to hack a small amount of things simply without the profiler, and just overwrite it with some codes? I just wondered cause he's a hacker so I thought it would both make sense, and be helpful, mainly while you are not in a place you can yet hack?
  26. MIke on October 15, 2013
How do you get a month before release then realize you need almost half a year longer to finish? This sounds like terrible project management.
    • Rutix on October 15, 2013
Probably because the developers are not the ones who decide if they delay or not. Management and the publishers do and they try to make the deadline till the very end. I guess the development team was finally able to convince them that more time would be better.
      • Mike on October 15, 2013
which is exactly why I said terrible project management. They sound pretty incompetent.
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
The team has been working really hard to deliver a really ambitious game within the original timeframe. We tested the game until the very last minute in order to make the most informed decision. It’s now clear that we need to allow for this extra time to fully realize our ambition, polish the game and really do it justice.
      • mike on October 15, 2013
Like I said, it's terrible project management. Your devs can work as hard as they want but if management decides on a release date and you miss it by half a year then the management is incompetent.
        • James on October 15, 2013
Murphy's law, it doesn't mean terrible management. Unless you Know first hand about the Management team? Do you work there?? do you know someone who does and get the inside scoop? If not, Don't place blame where It may or may not be warranted. you just look like an A**hole doing that. I for one am looking forward to whenever it will be released be it next year or later. Polish it up good Guys and Gals!

  27. tony on October 15, 2013
When you guys announced that the game was going to published at 30 frame-per-second, i canceled my preorder. Next-gen to me also means a solid 60fps, no exceptions. Hopefully this is one of the the reasons for the delay.
    • Donald McRonald on October 16, 2013
This game is the only game of any interest to me at present. And as such, I have cancelled my pre-order of the PS4 until the game is released. Christmas has been destroyed and it's only October. Many thanks.

You know, you could try asking Santa.Seriously though, your Christmas has not been ruined, you're just bitching about a tough decision. Get over yourself, they don't develop with your opinion specifically in mind, they develop so the majority may enjoy at the best possible level.

        • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Because obviously there's much more to this than just polishing up the PS4 and XBox One releases. Otherwise they'd release the other consoles and the PC versions now. The game must be an utter mess to pull this so late and delay it for over a half year.
  29. ROCKSTARR on October 15, 2013

How the hell have they copied R* and GTA... Watch_Dogs only comparison with GTA is probably the open world and shoot guns... Everything else is basically different. Games have been getting delayed before GTA 5 was even heard about. Ubisoft find this a good way to apoligise to those who want Watch_Dogs because some people check this website out a fair bit.

Well, on the bright side, this gives me a chance to get AC IV sooner. I was going to get it later because Watch Dogs took way more precedence. This will also allow me to enjoy Batman AO and Sonic Lost World on Wii U a lot more since now there's plenty of time left before it arrives. (Yeah, that's how high in regard I hold this game ;)...)

I read most of the reviews and found out that the fans will lose their interest in watch dogs till spring 2014. You should at least launch a beta or a theta so that we can stay gripped to the game. You can make the beta/theta a open world with a few hacking tools without any missions and people WILL enjoy it.
      • Damien on October 15, 2013

Probably it was a good decision. There is no more disappointing than buying a game filled with bugs, and downloading a patch one week after completion. Same decision should have been made with AC3 last year. Do not worry, players will wait. (#notpaidcomment)

Damn. Well, I am saddened by the delay, but i'm glad Ubi is putting extra effort into making the game as good as they can. Still pre-ordering it, still playing it 100%. Extra time polishing and bug-fixing is rarely a bad thing.

  53. LC on October 15, 2013
A 6-8 MONTHS delay due to "polishing"? Are you serious? This is just bullshit, sorry. Ubisofts public communication is a catastrophe, really can't be worse than that...
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
This is all about providing the best possible experience for the gamer. Watch Dogs already has an incredible depth and scope. We won't compromise on the quality and the experience of Watch Dogs, even if it means our initial timeline proved too ambitious. We want to be the winner on next-gen, which means we need to make bold decisions and create games that will deliver unrivaled innovations. This is why the team is taking extra time to realize their ambitions for the game.
      • LC on October 19, 2013
Well, then let us hope that Ubisoft will deliver on that promise in Spring. There just can't be just a mediocre game now any more, it must be almost perfect with the additional 8 months of development. Whole games have been programmed in 8 months by a team as large as the one working on Watch Dogs. Myself, I'm just sad that I won't have the chance to play Watch Dogs this year, was really looking forward to it. Please make sure, that it won't be just a GTA clone with senseless driving and shooting. Make a story that matters, believable and rich characters and a complete immersive experience, not just a sandbox game to play around. Hacking is cool, but there has to be a point doing so and not only because there has to hacking. Grab GTA at its weakest spot and make the narrative memorable and deep. In this case, the 8 additional months would be at least well invested imo..... ;)
  54. Venge Drac on October 15, 2013
I have a feeling its both Current and Next Gen. Either way why worry if you have it Pre Ordered you will still get to play it. Or regardless once it comes out in 2014. So it will come out when Destiny does. SWEET!!!

How will Ubisoft handle the customers that pre-ordered the PS4 Watchdogs bundle?
    • nick on November 13, 2013
You need to speak with your retailer since thats not a Ubisoft thing...... the bundles where a Microsoft and Sony thing with retailers. Most likely you will be allowed to pick another bundle or pay just for the console or get your free copy when the game releases if u keep the current setup
  57. Don on October 15, 2013
After the unpolished messed AC3 was and the complains I read about AC4 it's time Ubi starts delivering better experiences like GTA 5 instead of a yearly franchise hyped to death with repetitive gameplay, bad story and messy controlles.
    • Johnny on October 15, 2013
AC4 isn't even OUT yet, how have you heard complaints about it.... Fail.

You know, even though I was super excited to play this as my first PS4 game, if it's not ready yet then I'd gladly have it delayed until it's ready. After all, an unpolished games stays unpolished forever. A few extra months and it will be a complete game for all time after that :)

Indeed, push it out to infinity and the game will be universe breaking. WHY UBISOFT are you doing us such a grave disservice as to release this wonderful game trillions of years before it cam really meet it's potential? Oh right, I know, its cause the delay isn't to make the game better, its to boost ac4 sales.
  66. Stussy on October 15, 2013

  73. Paolo on October 15, 2013
I think polish is important, but in this case we are talking about The nextgen launche title, the first and most important. It's too late to take this decision, there was even a Watch Dogs bundle already buyable. Also we are talking about a lot of months so this means it's not simply a polish question: the game is incomplete and/or you think is not profitable now (the problem is will be even less profitable next spring for sure).
    • Damien on October 16, 2013
It will increase their ac4 profits.

No Problem, take ur time guys, but i was waiting bad for this game. i know whats on ur mind, n trust me that dosnt matter that much. i love the game, graphics are cool. graphics dosnt need to be cooler to make a game a hit, it needs a story n gameplay,n both are good right now, as far as release is concerned , u have to make it, and plz dont listen to Haters, if they come up with , fail logos n all, we are all here to support you. best of luck.
  75. Aman on October 15, 2013
In all honest I feel like they are moneywhoring. I bet the execs at Ubisoft are thinking more people will buy Watch Dogs over AC4 so why not push that back and basically not give anyone a choice, so more people are going to pick up AC4 and then they get ALL their sales "early" 2014. Moneywhores. Now what the hell am I going to play on PS4 launch? CoD?!
    • Damien on October 16, 2013
Exactly, money whores. If I could cancel my preorder I would. As it stands watchdogs will be the last ubisoft game I get.

Hugely disappointing. I had not been this stoked for a game in numerous years. I just hope that it really is just to fine tune the game, and not wind up being canceled. Usually, when games are delayed, its never good.
  83. phil on October 15, 2013
what a bummer. It's good that you guys are focussing on quality: seen too many being rushed out for Christmas just so they can capitalise on sales, so it's good to see you guys aren't making this compromise.Sadly it's the one game I was looking forward to most on next-gen consoles, and given how few games are launching with the Xbone and PS4, the absence of Watchdogs will be noticed.Titanfall, Destiny and now Watchdogs are slated for spring 2014...Can't wait.

Lets make one thing abundantly clear your not getting off scot-free. If you need to take more time then be my guest i certainly don't one another A realm reborn style joke of a game on release. I personally am starting to get a little sick of the bad time management of developers. It seems so many developers in this day in age repeat the same mistakes time after time and turn around and say "sorry we appreciate your patience".Then of course comes the white knight retards that come forth and abuse those that dare put forth an their << (bold and underline) unfavorable opinion of the subject. Gary the fact remains this truly is your fault for putting forth and unrealistic release date in the first place. The team at Ubisoft need to take responsibility for the release dates they set forth and work around the clock to ensure your promises are kept. There is nothing worse then a company with legions of fans putting out unrealistic release dates, half or false promises and increasing hype about a game they do not intend to release. Learn from the mistakes rather then repeat them. Moral of this story is DO NOT PUT FORTH ANY RELEASE DATE UNLESS YOU INTEND TO FOLLOW THROUGH. Problem fixed no one is annoyed or upset and you keep your credibility...the most important thing in any developer.

This is fucking bullshit! You basically steal last year's E3 by default because everyone expected everything to be shitty (and they were right) and pull this fucking game out of your ass and blow everyone away? You think we're a labrador retriever that you can wave a ball in front and pretend to throw it only to keep it behind your back and expect us to forget to in ten seconds?!?!? FUCK NO. As disappointing as this news is to hear, I am very willing to take it with a grain of salt. While it's very easy to say that the game should be released at launch, I recall something that was once said by Shigeriu Myamoto regarding development processes and how delays sometimes happen."A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."Bearing that in mind, I will patiently wait to see what the world of Watch Dogs offers. See you in Chicago.

We respect GTAV quite a bit. It's an incredible game. But this decision doesn't have anything to do with any other game. The Watch Dogs team started work a few years ago with the vision to build the first truly next-gen new IP, which is a huge undertaking. We won't compromise on the quality and the experience of Watch Dogs, even if it means our initial timeline proved too ambitious. Ubisoft’s long-term goal is to be the best developer of next-gen games, and this starts with Watch Dogs.
  95. Paul on October 15, 2013
I don't mind a game release getting delayed, my thing is that Watch Dogs was a confirmed launch title.
  96. GuyToWinIT on October 15, 2013
Is this going to become a regular thing with Ubisoft? Kinda like the Rayman Legends delay? Just wondering? It doesn't bother me that much, but it seems to be the trend with Ubisoft these days. I look forward to the more polished version of the game in 2014!

We won't compromise on the quality and the experience of Watch Dogs, even if it means our initial timeline proved too ambitious. We tested the game until the very last minute in order to make the most informed decision. Personally I would be lying if I said I wasnt disappointed the whole reason I ordered a release day ps4 was for this game as its the sort of open world game I love. I do appeciate that you want to release a killer release and to be honest so far this game and division are the only two games that look like the developers have bothered to push the bar as far as the game mechanics go. Other developers need to raise the game and not just throw out a franchise game with enhanced graphics. As if this is the case they wont be getting my money. All the best with the fine tuning and polishing of watchdog and I look forward to playing it next year on my PS4

Honestly, all in favour of a better game but at the same time this is the 2nd time this year Ubisoft have pulled a game before release (Rayman) and that pissed me off a lot especially since it was really just to make more money on other consoles, To that end I have not yet purchased that game and probably never will. That said, I find that this now almost common operating procedure for you, may be for the better good we will see on release, at the same time is incredibly unprofessional. It's a massive let down to all of us that have been waiting for the game and now has to be honest killed my interest in the game. I know you have yet to really say why the delay but once the game release I would like to know what exactly the extra 2 quarters added to the game on launch. If its just for bug fixes then the game had better be 100% bug free, If this is just a marketing thing and want to I dunno not compete with other Ubisoft (AC4) and big name titles release at the same time (CODG) then I won't be bother with the game or your company again. In closing, please don't disappoint me, also what is going to happen to the currently running contests.
  111. Eisekopf on October 15, 2013'd understand the decision if your previous delayed releases (like those in the AC-Series) would have been bugfree and would contain a lot of content. But in my oppinion, they didn't. So for me this delay is unnecessary. And as a nice coincidence you now got the releases of Black Flag and Watch dogs seperated, double those sales yay! Now I'd actually rather buy some unfinished trash from EA and go through those 100 patches but at least they deliver on time....
    • Someone on October 15, 2013
And you are probably the one who complains all the time about game that do not work properly on their launch day...I prefer a delayed release and a bug free game than a game released on time but that can't be played because of the bug... don't you?
  112. Rus102 on October 15, 2013
And looks like GTAV fuck watch dogs right now more than ever. So ubisoft desired to fuck their customers. Alright, then fuck this game and next gen consoles. I will wait for better option. I almost bought it.
    • Sam on October 15, 2013
Ok, let me think this through.. because of the fact that Ubisoft pushed Watch_Dogs back 6 or so months, due to polishing the game up and everything.. which has basically nothing to do with GTA being so hyped at the moment, its just a coincidence.. you are not going to get this game or a next gen console... Some people confuse me alot.
  113. rm on October 15, 2013
Do what you gotta do, don't release anything until your team believes its done. Regardless if you were to lose sales here and there if you release something because of that pressure you'll regret it.

I must say, I'm sad to see the title delayed. But I DO have to say I'm super excited for it and a delay doesn't mean just means they are making the game better and not releasing something until it's ready to go and be played for hours on end by gamers like myself without freezing or crapping out on you. Ubisoft, I'm greatful for you not releasing a half assed game and you guys have NEVER released a game I didn't LOVE and for that I say "tip of the hat" to you all! XOXO UBISOFT!

  120. Jae on October 15, 2013
Why wait that long? I believe this will have a massive blow on you market, since it will be way behind from the Next-Gen games that are getting released this November. I do agree with a more better game play and quality But it sounds Like you guys made some pretty bad mistakes. Delaying the release for half a year is a lot of time. Think about it, in that 6 months there might be other good games that might overshadow this. When people are talking about good games, we wont be able to brag about Watch Dogs since its not even released yet. Bring it forth to a more reasonable date to make us games happy too. Will wait for the game No matter how long But this is Just my 2c opinion,
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
The focus here is on delivering the best possible game and being a leader on the next-gen, rather than releasing the game prematurely. We know there will be some great games at launch (including Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag!), and in the window between launch and release. The team has been working really hard to deliver a really ambitious game within the original timeframe. We tested the game until the very last minute in order to make the most informed decision. It’s now clear that we need to allow for this extra time to fully realize our ambition, polish the game and really do it justice. We have high expectations for the next gen, and we want to deliver a game a truly exceptional and memorable game.
  121. Brendon Morgan on October 15, 2013
This was one of only two launch titles I pre-ordered for my PS4. I'll probably cancel the pre-order, but not for lack of interest or because I won't buy it later when it does release. I'm just going to get a different launch title instead because I don't want to be limited to a single game on my PS4, and I don't have the money to commit to several different pre-orders. I hope this delay gives you guys the time you need to add content and some serious polish so we can see what our next-gen systems are capable of, though!

  125. RobZombie on October 15, 2013
I understand they want to polish the game and realease a product that is perfect. What I DON'T understand is why a developer would reveal a game at e3 2012 and not realease it until right before e3 2014. THATS ALMOST 2 YEARS!!!!! When can we expect The Division? 2015?!?! Maybe 2016?!?! Rainbow Six Patriots is now something we can expect in the life to come.
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on October 15, 2013
The game has actually been in development now for nearly half a decade. The whole team is doing an amazing job, and remains committed to the project. Their intention is still to deliver a truly exceptional and memorable game. The game has incredible depth and scope, and we think players will appreciate that even more thanks to the additional time we’re taking to fully realize our ambition and polish the game.
      • RobZombie on October 15, 2013
That's the part I do understand. I woulnd't want a developer to release a game that isn't up to par with expectations from the consumer or the developer. The only thing I don't understand is why you reveal a game and release it 2 years later.
        • RobZombie on October 15, 2013
Listen Gar Bear, I understand it takes many years to begin developement on a game and finish the product but showing gameplay footage at e3 2012 and not releasing it until right before e3 2014 doesn't make sense.

          • Carlos Torres on October 15, 2013
RobZombie you make little sense. There is no rule book that says a game has to be released less than two years after being revealed. In fact it wasnt until recent years that games got revealed and released not long after. Ever heard of the Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 13 Versus? Even back in the 90's, I had a magazine previewing FF8 AND FF9 on the same page! And they both took hefty amount of time to release after that, not to mention when they probably were first revealed. Just pick your favorite game, tell me when it was announced and revealed, then tell me when it released. Most games at E3 show a little teaser during reveal, a year later showcase scope and details, another year later they bust out all the juicy details, have a playable demo, THEN release a couple months or so later.

Iv been hearing some stuff lately about watchdogs that's has shaken my faith in this game a little bit. For instance I'm now hearing that your only releasing in on the next gen consoles in 720p not 1080. Iv been holding my breath and hoping that this is just not true. I almost cancelled my preorder because of this today care to enlighten me a little?
        • Someone on October 15, 2013
Have you really cancel your pre-order only because the game will be released in 720p? Like, seriously? I would play WD even if it's released on a old black and white catodic TV, because Gameplay > Graphics.
  126. Eric on October 15, 2013
Well I cancel my pre-order a few days ago since PC version of Watch Dogs is not getting any type of bonus. Is a shame that all the other platforms are getting something in exchange of pre-ordering (or paying $60) for the game but not PC users. I hope you guys add something for PC user to make us pre-order Watch Dogs because is not worth paying $60 dls while other platforms gets bonuses for buying the gane at that price. It just doesn't make sense why the PC version doesn't get nothing at all, any way now I have to wait even more to play Watch Dogs. Theres no way I'm paying $60 dls for this unless you guys change your mind and add stuff for PC,

How does this affect the PS4 launch bundle? I pre-ordered mine, and with this delay, now I'm being told I have to wait until next year? All the other bundles are completely sold out everywhere, so now I have to wait until 2014? This is disappointing, and frankly a little unprofessional. Why make a deal with Sony on a launch bundle then back out without a word to anyone who purchased said bundle?

Well I did contact Amazon and was told I could either (A) cancel my order and have to wait for a regular Xbox One console to be in inventory (which would probably be late December) or (B) Keep my order as it was and I will get the regular Xbox One and Watchdogs when it was released. That was the two options they gave me. So how in blazes is that fair for me? I can't switch to another day one Xbox One bundle as there are none to give. So I've lost my Day One and now have to wait 6+ months for Watchdogs. So Ubisoft basically just screwed me out of a Xbox One Day One edition. Where's my compensation for that?

This is kinda good news. Sure, I was looking forward to it on my brand-new XBox One, but... 1. I'm not entitled to anything, and they can decide when to release the game 2. It's gonna be better. I'd rather have a freakin' awesome game later than a good game now. 3. It'll be easier on my wallet. No kidding. Investing in a next-gen console, controllers and games ain't easy, and delayed game releases means I won't have to pay everything right away and potentially not buy a game. Thanks Ubisoft, now I don't have to decide between this and Battlefield 4 ha.
  142. qwerty on October 15, 2013
I'm happy with waiting longer if it results in a better game. I've played more than a few games before that could have been great and had good ideas but they just felt like they had been rushed out when they weren't ready. At least Watch Dogs is getting the time it needs, plus November is pretty crowded when it comes to new releases anyway.
  143. Christopher L on October 15, 2013
And yeah, as an IT guy myself, you've gotta go into the server room and hack it. (not that this game is true-to-life) but it would make the game feel so much more like an immersion than "just" a video game. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make us break in and install something on the server (it could be a flash drive, whatever) and it would also be awesome if every once in a while CTOS found our little hack and took the flash drive out/made upgrades so that we would have to go through even more effort to re-hack it. I mean, it's not as if the company would just be like "oh well, I guess an extremely dangerous vigilante hacked into our system and is now capable of spying on the entire city" no, they would be actively defeating his hacks. At least make it a random occurrence for one or two of the servers. Anyways, looks awesome except for the actual hacking part ha.

  148. Blackopkiller on October 15, 2013
    Dear Ubisoft, You are A$$holes
  149. Blackopkiller on October 15, 2013
I mean, I have fucking HAD IT! I work my ass off to pay for this and then this shit happens. I mean if they need it for "polishing", set a later release date, not a month before it's release!

    • Desmond on October 15, 2013
I assume this was done so that they could get the Xbox One version up to standards. I had preordered this to and had saved up. I knew something was wrong last month when they said that they hadn't settled on a resolution for Xbox One yet. With only two months to go, this could only mean that the Xbox One was slowing down development. I'm mad because this is effecting PS4 version now.
  151. Aaron on October 15, 2013
Well you killed my interest yet again just like with rayman ubisoft. Thanks. I ain't falling for your shit anymore. I am done. You have lost a customer.
    • Sam on October 15, 2013
you say that, but you will find a game in the future by Ubisoft and will buy that
  152. Geonosis on October 15, 2013
It doesn't affect me because I never buy new games anyway. If you had a brain, you'd do away with used games but all of you are cowards.
  153. Derek on October 15, 2013
This makes me mad and happy. Ubisoft has been in production on this game for at least 5 years and they showed it at E3 2012 and it looked AMAZING!!!! This is good though because we get a better game.... I'm on the fence
  154. G on October 15, 2013
? The only game I had preordered for the next gen gone. After all the hype and you delay! Ok you better be thinking of improvements too! I want a lot of REALLY funny easter eggs, like the lights on the one building in Vice city at 11pm. You delay now you have to live up too the best game I ever played
    • Someone on October 15, 2013
hmmm WD is not about easter eggs and big d*ck on building like GTA. Plus, I'm pretty sure they do not delay the game to add easter eggs..
      • G on October 15, 2013
I said like. The easter eggs don't have to that exactly
    • anonymous on October 25, 2013

  155. joe somebody on October 15, 2013
after seeing the next gen ver first hand I'm sure gta5 has a lot to do with it. the 360 and P3 ver. look like crap and the next gen ver looks like gta5. I'm sure there goin to take the time to pump more out of the game.
  156. Derek on October 15, 2013
I'm still very excited and I'm wanting even more to play it! I have faith in Ubisoft though. They will deliver. Count on it!
  157. Ulmaro on October 15, 2013
Will there be any type of content, or hell, even a demo for the pre-order buyers who have fully paid for the game to do/play while we wait for the release. Basically, is their going to be ANY type of bonus given to us who pre-ordered the game so freaking early or can I go get my money back?
  158. Flyin11 on October 15, 2013
Time to cancel my PS4 preorder...I only wanted it for this game so now, I'll have to wait till next year to enjoy the PS4...Nice work Ubisoft...Stop making promises you can't keep...all the conferences including E3 with u saying it will get released launch day...nice work.
  159. Kyle on October 15, 2013
Well can't say I'm not disappointed since this is the game I'm looking forward to the most, but I guess a perfect game in 6 months is better than a "glitch ridden game that crashes every five minutes" in November.. more power to the dev team of Ubisoft! Looking forward to the masterpiece that is Watch Dogs!!
  160. Ghanem on October 15, 2013
why ubi ? isn't a stupid thing to to delay the release until spring 2014 ?
  161. Michael on October 15, 2013
Well I guess we'll wait for a few months just like how GTA 5 was delayed in Spring.
  162. hobotronis on October 15, 2013
6-7 months just for polishing the game? There is something else at play here behind the scenes we arent being told.
  163. Carmelo on October 15, 2013
You guys are definitely making the right decision. Please take your time with development. More time in development means a more polished game and ultimately a much better experience for fans. A much more polished and complete game is definitely worth the additional wait.
  164. rod on October 15, 2013

  173. Dr_McFisto on October 15, 2013
I've had this ordered on the Wii U for months now and am starting to get more than a little annoyed;First Wii U owners were promised a definitive version of Aliens Colonial Marines by Sega which never saw the light of day, but Ubisoft were there to comfort us with the Promise of full support of the Wii U throwing a Rayman Exclusive and a Splinter Cell Blacklist that utilised the gamepad to full effect with local Multiplayer. So then you go back on your word, with a delay on Rayman no longer an exclusive, and remove local multiplayer on SC Blacklist.I think this delay has more to do with Microsoft and Sony flexing their muscles again and wanting this to be next gen exclusive as their current exclusive line ups for Q1 are extremely poor, than the usual sorry excuse given about spit polishing the game. After the previous two broken promises this just feels like more corporate bulls*** you have lost a sale and a life long customer!
  174. FuckUbisoft on October 15, 2013
Just admit that it took someone all this time to realize your profits would be affected by releasing ACIV and Watch Dogs at the same time. Delay ACIV instead. If it is as buggy as 3 was polish it. GREEDY!
  175. Lukas on October 15, 2013
Dear Gary,I can understand if the team wants to polish the game, but I assume that decision game from management because the game probably wasn't living up to their expectations? I know you probably can't admit that if it's true, but I also may obviously be wrong. A lot of the comments I have seen from people have been that the gameplay looks boring and rather stale. While I admire the effort and hard work development teams put into these huge AAA games, I have to agree. Instead of making the games one huge checklist with limited things to do outside the story, I would love it if they focused on giving the player lots of fun little things to do. The reason GTA V succeeded in my opinion was that there were so many distractions that the word felt very alive and realistic. I know you can scan people or take part in crime activities, but how long will it be before these distractions get tiring (same with Ctos hacking)? The activities need to be extremely varied. Oh and please add choppers! Choppers are cool!I hope you can read this and pass it on if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.
  176. Scott on October 15, 2013
Well I'm disappointed of course, because it was close and I was excited to play but I can respect that you want to release a high quality game. No amount of pouting is going to make code work better so I'll look forward to playing next spring.

  179. Kelso on October 15, 2013
So for us aussies that means summer 2014? Yes I'm a little annoyed, however as many people have stated, I'm happy to wait for better game play and an improved product.
  180. Dave on October 15, 2013
Well Amazon basically told me I could either (A) cancel my order and have to wait for a regular Xbox One console to be in inventory (which would probably be late December) or (B) Keep my order as it was and I will get the regular Xbox One and Watchdogs when it was released. That was the two options they gave me. So how in blazes is that fair for me? I can't switch to another day one Xbox One bundle as there are none to give. So I've lost my Day One and now have to wait 6+ months for Watchdogs. Last time I buy or preorder any Ubisoft game.
  181. Zoomer30 on October 15, 2013
People need to quit giving these idiot developers a pass every time they pull this crap. Its like they had a meeting and the boss said "you know.... I really feel like pissing people off today, lets delay the game that was a slam dunk launch title have a freaking YEAR....,,, brilliant"And bear in mind :First of many many delays. Game now does not even have a firm date.
  182. Jason on October 15, 2013
I'm an ASM for Gamestop and was in the middle of working a double when I got this heartbreaking piece of news. I wish we we're given a bit more notice than a month, but if at the end of the day this means that the already game-changing, mind-blowing, genre-bending, amazing game we've seen will get better, then it's not the end of the world. Though disappointed, I can see the desire to push this game an excruciating 6~12 months to make sure that everything that Ubisoft has promised will be delivered.Hopeful, and optimistic is much better than disappointed and bitter.
  183. Zoomer30 on October 15, 2013
Have to agree with an earlier poster: Sad facts are the game was just not fun and the devs knew it. You don't give up the position as a "launch title" with guaranteed sales lightly. Must be some serious issues with the game. Most realistic launch target now is Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 which will push The Division to about a week after never.
  184. John Moyer on October 15, 2013
This is a bit disappointing. I was really exited for playing the most beautiful game I've ever seen right before I leave for the Navy. Now it looks like I have to wait for several months after release until I can get settled in and buy a gaming machine that's a bit more mobile than my desktop.
  185. Marvin Bernardin on October 15, 2013
I got a question, I pre-order the game in The Play Station Store but now with this, notice will Sony give us back the money ? because i can buy another game and save money for Watch Dogs till spring
    • Marvin Bernardin on October 15, 2013
I'm really really confident that the Watch Dogs's team will make a game really really good
  186. Stop obsessing about GTA on October 15, 2013
Why are u so obsessed with GTA, watch dogs team? Did you wait for GTA and saw ur hope for game of the year completely blasted by the success of GTA and will therefore strategically wait to make 2014 all about you to satisfy your narcistic need? We know Watch Dogs wont be better, it might has more mission depth as other Ubisoft games tend to have but will be a walkthrough and then throw kind of game with a maximum of 60 hours playing value. Just release it already you have been hyping it up since like 2010? And intrduced it at E3 2012.. These should be seen as signals to a game that hit gold but is delaying for completely other reasons than improval.
  187. Youdonegoofed on October 15, 2013
I really really really and sincerely hope that this game now gets leaked. Just to know how it feels to mess with millions of people
  188. Whyalwaysme on October 15, 2013
Ubisoft you realize that this half year wont do you any favour in terms of finding glitches and bugs, right? The game will be bought by millions and millions of people and a portion of these people (highly larger than your watch dogs developer team) will put the majority of their playing time to expose these glitches. Glitches and bugs that you, in no way in hell will be able to discover. Its what they do, some of them are theorycrafters, some of them are youtubers who are desperate for views and som of them are purely enemployed and trust me, they will find them before you do. :)
  189. Fabio_BR on October 15, 2013
I'm sad, I'm really sad. This was the game I was hoping to play the most this year. Even more than GTA, or The Last of Us... I don't enjoy the AC series (nothing against the game, it's just not my style)... So this announcement makes me really sad... I mean, what's the point anymore?
    • Alex on October 15, 2013
Right, I mean we have already waited how long for this game to come out. Now they're going to push the release back a few months just to make a better gaming experience. It seems like all Ubisoft really cares about is themselves, greedy jerks.
      • Alex on October 15, 2013
That's sarcasm by the way. By looking at your comments I figure you wouldn't be smart enough to have figured that one out.
  190. Darvesh on October 15, 2013
Ubi is just trying to make the game a little more comfortable as this is the first time a game with hacking tools is coming. But they should release a beta or theta on their own site so we can get used to the game. They should release it on 22 nov , the previous release date. This will actually satisfy the fans.

I have watched Blizzard release top ranked titles time and time again, and the one time I would say they failed was when they rushed Diablo 3 out when it was obviously not finished. While I am looking forward to this game, I must applaud you for making a difficult business decision to help preserve the integrity of the (hopefully) masterpiece you seem to be creating. Hopefully the extra wait time will be worth it.

  195. George Spears on October 15, 2013
Come on tell the truth. You don't want to go up against The Last of Us or Grand Theft Auto V for Game of the Year. Next year you would be going up against Titanfall, Destiny, and who knows how many other big titles offhand. This is highly disappointing. A few full disclosure's here. I work in retail, I eat sleep and breathe the videogame industry and have for longer then should be possible, occasionally review on the side.I play pretty much everything but sports games. Nothing against them just not my type of game. I go out of my way to defend developers when they delay their games. Way way out of my way. In the last 2 years though there have been dozens of games I have been highly anticipating the three that ALWAYS stayed at the forefront were The Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, and Watch Dogs. They have never surpassed eachother in anticipation and they have never wavered.Which is why it pains me to say. I call BS here. A big steaming pile of BS. As others have said it is simply NOT POSSIBLE that you didn't know this extra time would be needed on the game until THIS LATE. This is not ok. Again I defend many developers on their delays, and I would do the same thing here for you were it not complete BS.There are only two reasons you are doing this and neither are good. Either you are dumbing down the massive differences between certain versions to make players who have lesser systems not feel quite as bad about their inferior versions. (Not talking fanboy stuff here I am talking PS3 vs PS4, 360 vs Xbox One. Or Far worse. The countless comparisons given in quality of a title in development for PS4 and Xbox one started to become so glaring that "changes" had to be made. After all how can we claim one version is really superior to another if a parity is reached beforehand that makes the difference indistinguishable. ALL the game devs right now are scrambling to reach an agreement of one sort or another of whether to go with the superior specs or to strive for parity. This delay is complete madness (If you would have told me even maybe a month ago I would be defending you. This marks MAYBE instance number 5 out of over a FEW HUNDRED times I have decided NOT to defend a developer for delaying their game. (You can't "convince" me here when you are less than a month from launch when all your packaging is all made your game was already greenlit etc. It just isn't going to happen.
  196. Teresa on October 15, 2013
Wow, you guys are really screwing over Sony with this last minute delay, aren't you. I wonder how many millions of dollars in pre-ordered PS4 bundles will be flushed down the toilet because Ubisoft waited until the last possible second to realize that releasing Black Flag and Watch Dogs at the same time would be a stupid move.

Really ? Sorry Ubi but it's really hard to believe this.In summer 2014, I saw some commercial tv/theater for WD. But In sep/oct, no more. Only a lot of commercial for AC4.So only two reasons for this :- delaying WD is planned since summer, but you informed us only today. - AC4 preorders was not so good, and you don't want WD cannibalize AC4 sells.I really hope people who test the preview vers of WD will test the game few weeks before the release and deliver the truth about real changes or nothing more than BS from UBI...Really dissappointed by this new.

For those who did not do the pre order i got 1 suggestion you now have 6 months to put 10 $ aside each month and get the game when its out and get your mind blown away . and they say chicago is beautifull in spring so see you there ...... if you dare !

  211. John on October 16, 2013
Well then, that's no surprise!! I thought they were being a bit too ambitious trying to release something this major with AC coming out as well. They've been having cross platform issues for ages now, and plus, when they saw what GTAV has done they shit themselves and are having to redo the game a bit I guess. This game NEEDS to work because they want it to be a franchise, so if it doesn't work as planned they will have to can it, and it will be a major loss!! They need to focus more on the games, instead of all their stupid marketing and propaganda! If they're not careful, they will be the new EA!
  212. todd on October 16, 2013
Welp, there goes my major reason for buying a next-gen console.I definitely will NOT be buying Assassin's Creed 12 or whatever number they're on.Good luck recovering from this disappointing announcement. The game looks cool, but your management just lost a lot of good faith, and probably a lot of pre-orders and sales. You'll have to 9.9 this game if you want it to sell now. People are generally a little more forgiving about launch titles.. they just want something cool to try out on their shiny new system.(Bad call, bros.)
  213. Jeff on October 16, 2013
It's disappointing, but these games aren't cheap (by my standards anyway) and I support the decision. To jump into it and have performance or gameplay issues hounding me would be an even bigger disappointment... for example hacking my way through a (ahem) "Slim City". Make it great but please no longer than Spring! ;)

Ok, that wasn't a nice surprise. As the majority here, I'm disappointed but I do understand. I don't want to have issues like we did with GTA V. Well I'll stay on current-gen console and that delay seems like it's due to next-gen. That makes it even worse to me. And another thing: the game is set on Fall, which makes perfect sense to be released on November. Just another detail that probably was considered but it doesn't make sense anymore. Dear Ubisoft friends... Could you at least release a demo or an open-beta so we don't feel so frustrated?

Why not tell us the truth? You don't want AC Black Flag release clash with this release. I once loved Ubisoft games. Now-a-days you people are full of lies. You people never actually cared about games you make. You start a sequel with good story and slowly spoil the title with the later release. (Example Creed. After Creed II everything started going wrong. If you are willing to hear, i have lot of things to say which will help you improvise with the upcoming releases.) Now-a-days you care only about money and make games without important content. Make a worthy game and you will get more profit.
  225. Ron on October 16, 2013
Prepare to have the same unoptimized broken glitchy game they would have released now only one year later. Ubisoft delaying a game to optimize it lol... yeah sure. AC,Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell etc. every Game i can remember having played from Ubisoft had horrible optimization regardsless which platform. If anyone of you really thinks they delay Watchdogs to actually make it a better game, think again. The only reason it is delayed is probably because it has the same release window as AC4. And as most would rather buy and play a new franchise instead of the yearly shovelware AC has become, they delayed it to push sales for AC. After playing GTA5 and keeping informed about Watchdogs i felt rather sorry for the Ubisoft devs. They will never be able to show the same quality and level of detail in an open world game like Rockstar does. I would not be suprised in the least if half a year from now Watchdogs will be canned.

Dear Ubisoft/Gary Steinman thanks for being so upfront with us about this. Even though I'm a little sad to have to wait, I ultimately respect your decision and Im sure this will make the game even more epic now! I do have one request, could you please make the UPlay edition available in america? Please?!?!? That edition had all the stuff that I wanted out of all the different special, DedSec, etc. editions. Then I found out you can't get it in America. Please at least consider it. Thanks Anyway have a great week.
  227. rammmses on October 16, 2013
This is quite unexpected just one month prior to original release. However I'm glad you take the time to make it as good as possible. Watch Dogs looks amazing and is the next gen game I'm most looking forward to. Looking forward to playing it next year then, keep up the good work.
  228. Alex on October 16, 2013 this, guys. Ubisoft, both of those games that missed sales targets were DELAYED!!!!!!!!! Splinter Cell a few times, rayman a month before release. Sound familiar? Do you guys really think releasing the same time of year as titan fall and destiny is going to help your sales? Cancel the delay.
  229. Cami on October 16, 2013
This smells like bullshit to me. I would say that you guys just don't want to compete with yourselves. With AC4 coming out pretty much at the same time as the original release date was, most people would just buy only one of the games. You don't just announce a 3-6 months delay one month before release. If you have to polish the game, you delay it by a few weeks, or a month at most. If you guys plan to really stick with the 2014 spring date, just know that the next-gen/PC release date of GTA V is rumoured to be around that time as well, along with titanfall, and those will be serious competition as well.
  230. AKKOKK on October 16, 2013
The statement is so not true. The game is already playable. I think they played GTA5 and thought „our game sucks“. The people are already working under pressure they will not waste the time to opimize it "properly" for the pc. But im going to buy it no matter what! :)
  231. Stormbringer77 on October 16, 2013
I,unlike many whiners, really do appreciate and understand why they decided to delay the release.More game, less glitches.Like so many other games that were released earlier than they should have been. Mass Effect 3, "The Witcher 2,The Elder Scrolls/Oblivion,/Skyrim,Assassins Creed Series,All the Halo Games to name just a few.Because so many games were forced to be put out before they were cleaned up with less to no glitches, better story lines with good closure and a more acceptable game this is something that I can accept, especially since I've already paid for it and the fact that I'm from Chicago.Hey,I gotta see this!
  232. Zoomer30 on October 16, 2013
Really don't see the logic of:1. Unveiling the game as a next gen launch title.2. Marketing the game as a next gen launch title (ie bundle unit pre-orders)3. Letting ppl think everything was AOk4. Then, a month before, say "whoops, my bad, really half a year from release"... Huh? Bet Sony loves that oneI question UbiSofts intelligence, their integrity, their wisdom. Would not expect to see this game before 2015 (yep, 2015).
  233. TornadoCreator on October 16, 2013
Take all the time you need Ubisoft, your recent games have been of increasingly higher and higher quality. The newest Splinter Cell and the Rayman games have been really good and have complemented the Wii U perfectly. I look forward to Watch Dogs, and will be getting it on release as cyberpunk open world gaming is one of my favourite genres. Don't take note of what childish unpleasable people say; I'd rather have a finished game free of bugs than a rushed game that relies on patches and I commend your integrity and decency in admitting you need more time to do a proper job. Good on you Ubisoft, and thank you for making great games.

Optimised for high end quad core CPUs? We're barely into quad core 64 bit gaming and now a silly jump to hyper threading, which is as much good as a chocolate fire guard for 99% of PC gaming. This isn't the future, it's a hype. An expensive hype that will flop! We had hyper thread dabbling away back in IL-2 Sturmovik. It died. I'm not throwing out a perfectly good high end gaming CPU in my I5 3570K , when nothing gaming wise hasn't even pushed it yet! Sorry, unless you bring quad cores into the equation, I'm not buying a CPU that is £200 more than my I5 to sit 99% of my gaming time outputting the same or even less power in single core gaming.

Kind of stupid to miss out on december sales though... I think this would have found it's way under many a christmas tree if the original release date was kept. Financially it seems like a very bad idea.

Absolutely gutted was so looking forward to playing this, but all the best things are worth waiting for! and it gives me a little time between Xbox one coming out and buying the game so that's a second bonus. I hope that there might be a Demo out in the next month or so just to give us a taste of what we are waiting for!

For once, a game that has been deliberately delayed to make a better quality game. I'm sick and tired of half-baked buggy games releasing for arbitrary release dates or to meet marketing deadlines. It's ready when it's ready, I understand that and I'll be grateful to play a better quality game for it.
  242. shintopig on October 16, 2013
Ugh; Ubisoft. The delay of this huge release and The Crew spells disaster for your holiday. I hope Assassins Creed 4 can carry the burden & help turn a profit.Your poor stock; I hope it stops dropping.
  243. Amisha on October 16, 2013
Awesome! This is one of the reasons I'm buying a next gen console. The fact that you guys are going to polish it even more makes me giddy! XDI can't wait to get my hands on this game. Well, actually, I CAN wait. But now I'm certain it's going to be awesome. I won't be getting it for Christmas, that's a shame. But there's always tomorrow!
  244. NoLongerACustomer on October 16, 2013
You guys are hilarious. This delay has nothing to do with them "trying to make a better game". No. They simply don't want to compete with GTA5 this holiday season, instead. Therefore it's more about "trying to make a shit-load of more money".
    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Then they shouldn't have agreed and arranged to bundle their game with PS4 and XBox One releases, which they did. That's going to cost them some money. And that's also a major problem that I really doubt has anything to do with not wanting to compete with GTA5. They must have run into some serious coding problems which worries me because if it could occur this late, I have little faith things will be any better 8 months from now.
  245. Apexwolf on October 16, 2013
Will we be getting a demo to play in November to hold us over?
  246. Chris Danger on October 16, 2013
Heres a suggestion: The PC Version needs to allow me the option to run it in a window, not jack around with a full-screen only..Just my two cents. Take your time and do that for us mkay :)
  247. Joel Bender on October 16, 2013
So you want to make your fans happy and delay the game so you can make more money by not competing with GTA. What happened to feeling confident knowing your making that leap of faith because your game is origional and good, but now your are delaying a game and bogging down the hype. I'm probably just going to buy GTA now and forget about this game
  248. Sal on October 16, 2013
I have some theories: I'm happy that Watch_Dogs delayed. I heard that they are integrating outside world interactivity and in-depth hacking as they teamed up with Kaspersky Labs to actually see how the hacker acts step by step. Who knows....they might even give us opportunities to think up different ways to break in so they can give that data to other companies to improve their security throughout. The future of gaming is bright if it is used to create scenarios to solve real life problems. :DOr the delay is designed to allow all that Christmas money to be spent on Watch Dogs as the person doesn't have any money left to buy it since GTA 5 and Online.Or maybe both......
  249. JC Denton on October 16, 2013
While I do like that ubisoft has gotten a lot better at not releasing unplayable and broken games, I payed $60 with the understanding that I would get the game before x-mas. You guys really should have seen this coming a long time ago and announced this before we all bought it.
  250. JC Denton on October 16, 2013
My complaints aside, I can't stop buying your games, they're too good. Just try not to pull this on us again. If you're not sure when you can release a game, don't tell us you do and let us all spend our money only to have the game yanked back another few months. I can only afford to buy a few games a year, and I chose 2 of yours. I respect you, please respect us.
  251. Anthony on October 16, 2013

  256. Rage72 on October 17, 2013
... and another thing do people really think UBISoft would not release a game that had been agreed with Sony and Microsoft as a bundle title and not release it for no reason. They would have been guarenteed millions of sales so why delay it if not for a damn good reason?

HOW DARE YOU issue promo on your OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE in mid-september, saying: "_TWO MONTHS ARE ENOUGH TO VISIT LOS SANTOS. _COME TO CHIGAGO ON NOVEMBER 21st.", UBISOFT, then ONLY ONE MONTH LATER GIVE US THIS BULLSHIT?People don't like being lied to, I'm dissappointed but rather angry because IT'S ALL SO OBVIOUS.It figures all too quickly for anyone doing a 3-click research about RECENT SALES EXPECTATIONS and your statements to shareholders:1. you don't want to compete with your own product AC4 which you expect to sell rather well.2. you don't want to take the risk to compete with GTA5, even if it's different in many regards, just quit denying that already.3. you're absolutely focused on making big money with next-gen no matter what.SO YOU WANT TO MILK EVERY CENT out of everything. Fine, then at least say so and don't lie to us, damn it.Pencil-pushers making decisions at this level based on mere numbers FIVE WEEKS PRIOR TO RELEASE are often also ruining the work of great developers and the art in entertainment, maybe all of the industry in the long term. SHAME ON YOU.This way, there will be no excuse for anything but a perfect game now, once it is released. You guys realize that don't you?On a note: actually Assassin's Creed is the franchise which might indeed need some more development time. It's been constantly going down since UBISOFT lost Patrice Desilets as creative director, annual releases didn't help that one bit either.P.S.: If the obvious is true, I hope the right people, not the devs, will be punished by numbers. Maybe by another surprise hit on next-gen. Maybe from Rockstar, possibly AGENT. Maybe. Hopefully?

Ubisoft is not proving its not all about the money. All they have proven is that they have no ability to run a production with any ounce of intelligence or foresight. Not that different from the rest of the industry. A 6 month delay to them is a rounding error, where as for the rest of us its.... half a freaking year.Take this as as a lesson: most of ubisofts next games are 1-2 years away. Would not even start reading about The Division again until late 2014.

This means that the offer will expire before anybody can upgrade. What will happen with the upgrade offer? I preordered the PS3 version, because I was confident to be able to upgrade to PS4.

I'll do you one better. One of my friends pre-orderd the PS4 bundle that comes with a copy of Watch Dogs. He really doesn't know what the hell to do now. Obviously the bundle won't be sold since they can't include a copy of the game yet. Sure glad it's not me. I've only got the PS3 and my PC. If worse comes to worse, I'll get a copy for the PC, that's if they decide not to even release the PS3 one in the end. Don't know, I've got a funny feeling about all this.

Just wonder if I will be able to stop playing Titanfall long enough to try it. Also if it comes out close to Division I will be buying that game first. Ubisoft you say you are delaying it to polish the game which Iam sure you are doing. Let's even say this isn't about backing down and being scared of GTA V and the massive praise and success it received, your game will be looked at differently and get more expectation and sceptisim, having in mind that this game was massively delayed after being presented in E3 2,5! years before the final (?) release. Expect having large audiances playing through it feeling "meh, there isn't anything more to this than what i expected half a year ago from all the hype back then". Also expect getting ridiculed if the game has the least amount of issues and or bugs and glitches, which Iam 110% sure it will have and this delay will cause backfire to Ubisoft.

  275. WatcherInTheShadows on October 18, 2013
Are you seriously trying tell us that you want to 'polish" the game for our satisfaction? Let's get real. Your flagship game isn't even selling as well as you could be. I wonder why? Could it be because you're spending more time trying to figure out how to milk that cash cow dry before people just get tired of the same old schtick? Oh, let's give this games assassin a different name, and different point in time, but keep everything else the fucking same. On AC III you tried to play up the fact that you could now climb trees. C'mon climbing fucking trees? That's the best gimmick you have to set it apart from it's predecessors? No wonder your company is heading for a corporate meltdown within a few years at this rate. I wouldn't be surprised if you even became forced to sell your beloved cash cow (the AC series) to a rival company in a last ditch attempt to keep you company above water. SHAME ON YOU, UBISOFT, you should have known what would become of your company when you try to become greedy and care less about customer satisfaction. I mean look at EA. However, since you lost sight of all your adoring fans and started to get greedy. I'm talking countless worthless and ridiculous DLC such as multiplayer maps for $9.99, **FOR A FUCKING MAP?!?**, hoodies, coats, flags, dictionaries, etc, etc, et fucking cetera. You seen an opportunity to make a killing selling out your flagship and milking it dry, and you took the fucking bait. The fact is you could have still been making a killing, but you started to care less and less about whether the customers actually liked the games and more about how much ridiculous shit you could convince your "gullible" fans to buy. If you had paid as much attention this whole time to the quality of the games as much as the amount of crap you could shit out of the franchises, then you could have sold even more of the extra merchandise. But you didn't, you seen money and it consumed you. And now your greed will likely leave you looking for gainful employment in the not so distant future. This is what happens when you sell your heart and soul for quality game making to be a fucking corporate suit whose only care is bleeding a product dry. Do you know why Tell Tale games won game of the year last year? BECAUSE THEY FUCKING INVESTED SO MUCH TIME INTO THE WALKING DEAD STORY THAT IT ALMOST BROUGHT TEARS TO OUR FUCKING EYES BECAUSE IT WAS SO POETIC, POWERFUL, AND MASTERFULLY WRITTEN. Not some sleight of hand parlor trick of adding a "NOW WITH TREE CLIMBING ABILITY" bullshit. I won't waste anymore of my time saying anything here because it's not like you're going to stop milking your cash cow dry long enough to read and respond to any of our comments anyway. But I will say, you sold your fucking soul to the devil, and sold out us loyal legions of gamers and we sincerely hope you burn in a fiery hell lit from the paychecks of the money we gave you, you corporate piece of shit whores. I sincerely hope that nobody buys a single fucking Ubisoft game or product ever again. You are worthless fucking sell outs. You knew your weak (anymore) ass games couldn't compete with any of this years competition and you just didn't want your legions of fans to see just how far the mighty have fallen because you knew we'd walk away, but little do you realize yet, your decision to postpone this game has made many of us do just that, and permanently.

  293. Tom on October 19, 2013
For those of you complaining let me put it to you simply, it's like this: You go to a restaurant and order a burger, the burger comes out 5 minutes later with a raw steak in it. Alternatively the burger comes out 10 minutes later with a piece of steak cooked to perfection! The former is what so many companies do, sure they eventually fix it (the equivalent of the waiter taking the steak back to the chef) but is it not better to have an overall shorter wait time and more finished product immediately? I respect Ubisoft's decision as I respect every game they've put out!
    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Let me put it to you this way. Game gets delayed for 8 months or more. Finally gets released and the forums everywhere are packed with complaints about how the game won't even start or the constant crashes thanks to some Yeti-like file but oh it must be your graphics card that's to blame and not Ubisoft! Remember that when Ghost Recon Future Soldier came out? Because I sure do. I was one of the poor idiots who could not get the game to run WITH their Day One Patch. Had to uninstall, reinstall and refuse the update to even play the game. Nice that you respect them. I do not. I don't even trust them any more. I don't trust any major publisher.

Thank you.I was sort of looking forward to your game, but not in any major way. Lukewarm at the most. However, I made the mistake of ordering the watchdog bundle, because I thought "why not, I'm buying it anyway?"Now I don't get my Xbox one on day one. Thank you, for not having your shit together, and ruining day one for me, all because I gave your lukewarm game a chance.

I was looking forward to this... kind of a bummer it got delayed and i get it. BUT pushing into spring has put it up against 2 of the ps4 titles i really want so i will prob not go to watch dogs now... here's to hoping the division remains on track and we see that bad boy 2014

This is the absolute worst gaming week ever gta 5 gets jacked up watch dogs is delayed ps4 and xbox one are getting crap from ubisoft not knowing nothing about if these games are ready at release of course its 1 MONTH BEFORE release. Not only stopping there with the pre-ordered packages and the other half a million games that have been delayed. A so called "wonderful start to next gen gaming". Bravo next gen gaming. What a kickoff to 2014. This is going to be a "great"year.

  299. Sam on October 19, 2013
People are calling Ubisoft money whores for moving release dates around to get more money... but who wouldnt, every chance to make more money someone would take it. everyone should stop bitching about the release date getting pushed back, you are still going to get the game, its just going to be a bit longer than expected. Think of it on the bright side, instead of getting the game early and having glitches/bugs, you get the game about 6 months later and its alot more polished and there are less bugs/glitches.
    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
June 30 would be Summer. But I think it's more of a placeholder at this point rather than a firm date.
    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Don't know why it did that but my reply went to the wrong comment. Anyway, yeah, less bugs/glitches, sure. And I've got a nice bridge here that's for sale, if you're interested.

I was going to buy that game, now I'm gonna pirate it, congratulations assholes.
    • Sam on October 20, 2013
So because they moved the release date back a bit, to make the game a bit better... you arent going to buy it, instead pirate it for no real reason...right?
      • One Above All on October 30, 2013
That's not why they moved the release date back. This is about internal company business and AC IV. Nothing more. That's why if you asked anyone from Ubisoft to name 3 minor changes that they are going to make to the game between then and now, you wouldn't get a straight answer, if you got one at all. Don't believe me? Go ahead and ask and see what they tell you.
  301. Landon on October 19, 2013
Thank you for making sure this game will be the best it possibly can be! Also, a lot of websites say 6/30/14. Is that set in stone? Or could it move forward, backward? 6/30 doesn't seem like spring, so is that just a rough estimate? Thanks!
    • Guest on October 20, 2013
Technically is Spring if you go by the dates on which seasons start. Like Winter doesn't "start" till Dec 21.

Though slightly bothered by the game delay, I can understand and can't wait for the release. Longer time can only make it better, right?
  306. Marcus on October 20, 2013
It's disappointing that a developer of this size would wait till the last minute and pull the game. They have done this before and the end product is always disappointing. When Splinter Cell conviction was scheduled to launch they pulled it and redesigned the game. The final result was disastrous.
    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Yup and that's why I have no faith in anything they say. I don't believe for a second that it's so they can polish the game, etc. It's a financial decision. They want to release it with the PS4 but some other issue has come up. I very much doubt it has anything to do with the AC4 release since both games are very different and wouldn't appeal to same sort of players. They're focusing on the PS4 and that's what's got me worried. That the PS3 will be left high and dry in favor of it.
  307. John on October 21, 2013
It's refreshing to see that a major developer would wait till the last moment and then pull the game. I want to see polished and finished games on launch day, not buggy products released way ahead of schedule just to satisfy markets or investors.I'm glad Ubi had the balls to do this tough decision, and will be looking forward to Watch Dogs when it will be released in the spring.
  308. Bob on October 21, 2013
I'm fine with it. I would rather have a perfect game a month later than a mediocre game on time. Besides, this just means I get more time with to play AC4 and other launch titles. Just use this time wisely.
  309. Xan on October 21, 2013
A very bad call and a poor decision. As a long time customer with Ubisoft I feel that this is done for the wrong reasons and shows disrespect for (pre-ordering) customers.I just cancelled my pre-order for Watch Dogs and decided to boycott the AC4 release. I will wait till these games show-up as bargains in due time.
  310. Dan on October 21, 2013
I have read through all the posts about this and have heard so many different reason for the push back and actually they could all be true. I have preordered and paid off both AC4 and Watch Dogs as I was looking forward to both games. By the standards they have shown the demo to be I'm leaning more to the aspect that they don't want both titles being sold at the same time, which is understandable but you can still do an early December release and reap the rewards for both games. Most gamers will have bought AC4 and beat it by the time Watch Dogs would be released. I just want the truth. I read every comment that Gary has made to everyone and they seem like cookie cutter responses. I agree a beta or a playable demo would be really nice to see be put out if the game really is going to take as long as they are saying. Even being able to play the same demo that they used at the conferences would be fine. Just want to do the actually game play myself. instead of watching someone else walk through a staged area.
  311. Mitchell on October 21, 2013
I have a PS3 and 360. I also have a Wii U. I am also waiting on my PS4. I will say this Ubisoft and I could care less if I am the minority here. I chose my Watch Dogs for the Wii U for one simple reason.. To show my support of a misunderstood system. I had it on the PS4 but when I heard you were restricting the Wii U for Nazi reasons I am pretty pissed. I am buying my Wii U version with the expectation you will include everything you would with the others. I have an extensive Ubisoft Collection and I am ok with finding another developer to buy from if you want to be prejudice for no reason than because most do not understand the Wii U for how great is like the rest of the great systems.
  312. Mitchell on October 21, 2013
Release the complete game on Wii U like the rest! I have em all but people are screwing over the Wii U just because of the media pressure. I chose the Wii U version because every other system has mega-budget titles and this is a needed title for the Wii U to help. As I said, I am an owner of all the currents with a ps4 on the way. I also have AC4 reserved for the Wii U as demonstration. Don't care if I am not like all the other panderers of one system only. Take your time I do not care but if you cheat the Wii U I will discontinue by Ubisoft Collection which has become quited extensive. There are other publishers and developers if you do not care about this one particular fan. I loved Ubisoft and still do but take your money if that is what this is about and treat all your gamers equal regardless of system. Don't be a hater!

I think it's great that they have decided to wait with the release, so they could make the absoloute perfect game, played on next generation consoles, although I'm a PC guy.I do have a question though; I ordered watch dogs uplay special edition PC download over uplay, and in the mail/message it said for me to wait for the product key on november the 21st. I ordered it October the 20th? And this ubi blog post is 7 days old? Does this mean a new release date or a slow email alert correction?Victor

I sure that theres a good reason for this bold decision threfore I have slightly come to peace with this depressing news. yet the fact remains that Ubisoft have greatly disapointed us with this tragic news and with no further adu i will get to the point... ubisoft right now we really hate you guys but dont worry we will probably forgive you once the game is released, but next time please apply better project management principals inorder to prevent further disapointments. Thanx and i hope you guys at ubisoft take this to heart. P.S. you can expect a riot of angry fans with in the next few weeks
  315. Anon on October 22, 2013
I do not game and can therefore not comment on the reasoning behind your decision whether that be for selfish or game quality as those above have mentioned. However what has annoyed me is the fact that you have put this game as a bundle to be released with the ps4 and of course just in time for Christmas. I have now been told that I will have to wait to see which game is now given to replace Watchdog in the bundle and if I decide it is not a game I want then the whole bundle will need cancelling and the ps4 reordering. Most places are now not taking orders for Christmas so I just see it as a way to have me pay for a game that was not wanted and having to then pay out again in the spring for the game that was. I must admit right at this moment I really do question your motives and the position you have put many consumers into.
  316. TMan on October 22, 2013
Seriously? C'mon we were SO close to the release. This decision has a huge negative impact on the amount of pre-orders for next gen consoles, as well as the popularity of Ubisoft. The delay sucks indeed. Though we don't want a game which is not 100% completed.I know that you guys are working on it very hard at this moment but wouldn't it be an idea to release a 'Beta' version of 'Watch Dogs'? So we as players are able to give feedback as well.Maybe. Just maybe that we are able to find other bugs which you haven't found yet.Another question. It's still not announced yet wether it to be published on Uplay only or Steam as well for instance?

You are either incompetentс, either you want more sold copies to fight the crackers.6 months... WTF?!!?!?
  323. Miles on October 25, 2013
Coming from someone else that pre-ordered the game....What's the point of giving us a release date if you can't deliver on the date you promised? I would have rather waited to hear of the game an extra six months than to be promised a release and then be told oops! We're not ready yet.....I work too hard for my money to let someone else have it six months before I should have given it to them..........but I guess you really don't care do you? Stupidly, I pre-ordered it from Sony (PSN) for the PS3 and of course, they billed it immediately. I've been trying to get a refund or at least get the money returned to my wallet but their standard policy of ALL SALES ARE FINAL reared its ugly head. When I pressed the issue, they actually had the gall to say if I'd be more careful about how I worded my request, it might be taken under consideration. This after they basically said they don't do refunds for buyers remorse. I pointed out that this was Ubisoft and they might eventually decided to not even release it at all for the PS3 and just opt to go for the new next-gen consoles. Then they said I had a legit claim for a refund. So, here I sit waiting for the next 8 months, that's always unless Ubi decides to wait until 2015 instead. Hope Sony enjoys my $60. It'll be the last money I ever give them.

  334. Brad Torville on October 27, 2013
Upgrades? Don't make me laugh. They probably found that they can't even run the damn game. That's the real reason for the delay. That and they want to milk the PS4 for all they can. My biggest concern is that they'll decide to dump the PS3 release altogether. Then I'll have to fight Sony to get my money back so I can buy it for the PC. FML.

    • Brad Torville on October 28, 2013
Would that that were the case. Just because they're taking more time to release it doesn't mean it'll be bug-free or even close to it. The problems they faced must have been considerable to lead them to decide to pull it so soon to its release date and to warrant an eight-month delay. It must be a royal disaster. Not sounding good at all.

Just to play the devil's advocate: I see a bunch of people arguing and defending Ubisoft on the delay. Well. I agree that if you know that the delay will indeed fix many bugs and bring a great gaming experience, then the wait is not that bad. Now, what will happen when after this delayed release there will be at least 3 patches (at least 500MB each) to fix "some minor bugs"... How will those who defend Ubisoft on this issue react then? Will they take part and STILL defend the company, or will they agree that it was only a marketing move and Ubisoft didn't fix much.
  342. Dan on October 30, 2013
What I find funny is that Gary has stopped reading the posts and basically said " I told them now I can go back to my regular day. He was on here for the first day or so and then hasn't replied since. Yes I see a bunch of negative comment which you really can't reply too but I also have seen some good questions that have been left unanswered. So my take is Ubisoft put the info out and are now just treating it like it was never a delay in the first place. Guess we will see what the results are in June.

      • Megadeth > Metallica on October 31, 2013
Let's say you really are going to take the time to "polish" the game. Here are a few things that I think would markedly improve the concept of what you have going so far. Immersion - Aiden Pearce steals all of this cash money in the game, give him real world, in game reasons to spend it. In addition to Gun Shops, include - Clothing Stores, Eatery's, Cafe's, Street Vendors, Pharmacies and Motel / Hotels or Seedy Crash Pads. Things that his phone can't help him secure, but that would be necessary in his continued longevity in the game. Change of Appearance - Clothing and dyed hair should aid in helping Aiden maintain a lower profile (at least temporarily) given the fact that his face is all over tv in the game in addition to the possibility of NPC recognition. Sustenance - He should NEED to both eat and drink in the game and "potentially" pop uppers like, "Kowalski" in "Vanishing Point" if he's going to be running around all day long hopping on rooftops, engage in foot chases etc. Having him grab a hot dog from a street vendor for nourishment while he's walking around or a cup of coffee from a cafe or even a few uppers from a dealer in the wards would be very cool and really help sell the immersion into the world as well satisfying real world needs. That last one would also add to the ambiguity of his morality. Plus fatigue should be a factor given the athleticism required to simply be Aiden Pearce. Also he should have necessary crash pads or motel rooms around the city that inadvertently turn into hot spots based on his status in the game that he has to move from from time to time like, "Leon" in the professional. Real Time - The game should also run in real time like Kojima is doing with MGS V, on a real 24 hour clock for weather, daylight and night. Real Consequences - Too often we see blatant traffic infractions in games like this, reckless driving with no real consequences. But for the most part maintaining a low profile whilst accomplishing his missions or just existing during the game, should be Aiden's top priority, until circumstances dictate otherwise. But if this guy blatantly drives recklessly and runs red lights and all of that other GTA horseshit, the CtOS system in conjunction with other drivers and pedestrians should be calling these infractions in to the Chicago PD. Of course if he runs a red light and the cops happen to be anywhere near that intersection and see him running a light, they should be on him immediately. Once you blow steam pipes, fuse boxes and so on, they should become useless in that same area. At least until ample time to repair them has passed in the game. Fatigue as mentioned before and real injury would be great too, because then it would make his reliance on technology that much more necessary when he's in a tight spot and can't sprint like Superman never running out of energy any more. Getting shot in this game, should be like getting shot, depending of course on whether or not it's merely a flesh wound or something more serious. Injury and fatigue should also affect his ability to fire a weapon and operate a motor vehicle. Enter the need for a pharmacy. Or a supermarket with one in there for bandages and medicine and so on. I'd love to Aiden clear out a drugstore like Javier Bardem in "No Country for Old Men" and raid it for supplies if he's too hot or hurt to go in there and pay with cash for his provisions. From a technical standpoint all of the criminals Aiden chases shouldn't just be able to hop into any car they want and attempt to escape pursuit like Aiden does. That's just corny. He's got the tech to do it. What do they have? Also the crimes had better be very broad that a potential criminal can commit. Grand Theft Auto, Assault, Rape, Robbery, Battery, Muggings (it is downtown Chicago after all) and those are just the crimes I remember specifically froom Sean Penn's "Bad Boys" film which took place in Chicago. Go crazy and throw a little high line crime in there like the heist stuff from "Michael Mann's "Thief" (another great Chicago film). Have Aiden stumble on to a real professional crew and intercept their texts and phone calls etc. You guys want to impress me with some real next-gen shit, this is how you do it. So, if I have to wait until June of 2014 potentially, it had better be for some real game play improvements or at least 1/3 of what was mentioned above.
        • Raptr117 on November 4, 2013
Since they decided it wasn't done, add MORE to it. Give us some comedy, something to laugh at every once in a while. Make the cops say stuff like "Oh shit" if you pull out an AR on them or a pedestrian say "Watch where you're going dumbass!" Sure, I'm pissed it's delayed but hopefully you can add more. Make it worth the wait, add on some new vehicles, let us fly helicopters and jets. Let us have more than before. And we'll all be glad.

Would be nice if there was at-least a choice between a male and female character... will everyone who plays this game look the same.. ? Im not sure but from what I got looking at the videos is that online people can see others so I'm thinking will there be thousands of Aiden Pearce looking people running around... Im hoping i got that wrong.. hahaha.. or it will be like a halloween movie where everyone looks the same.

Sad that its delayed but as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait, I've had my 360 DedSec pre-order since hearing of it and I'll be sticking to that as the launch prices for the next gen consoles are too expensive for my wallet, lol and the price will drop considerably in a few months if you have the patience ;)

Well, well well. I was just experiencing post-purchase regret with BF4 - thinking I should have bought Watch Dogs instead and suddenly realized the release date has been pushed back 180 days. Wow. I'm WAY less stressed than I would've been had I pre-ordered and been waiting in excruciating anticipation (you all have my sincere sympathy there). But, I personally am tired of paying full price for a game just so that I can become an unpaid beta-tester, so any gaming frustration that UbiSoft is preventing with this delay is a good move. Plus, all the people who are whining about the delay are the SAME people who would've whined endlessly about bugs.

  353. john on November 2, 2013
Just release the game): we will buy and love it regardless. Your loosing more and more money every day u don't release it. People will spend there money on another game or item. We know splintercell didn't do that well and gta was a big release and AC black flag had a ton of gliches but I loved playing it.but I'd much rather have watch dogs. We get an assassins creed every year we could have done with a delay of that one (even though I loved playing it and couldn't put it down) but I know u guys r loosing money off this delay. Release befor its a lower sell than splinter cell.

Hold on....haven't you guys ben working on this game for ummm idk 5YEARS. and u need an extra 6months. Ac comes out every year.madden every year. Gta 4years. But watch dogs 5years and 6mouths. I've read a lot of blogs and so many people talk about all the momey your loosing from this. You don't even reply to your buyers anymore. We all put money on this game with bundles and just pre orders and now were all pissed and not buying from you guys. Ill idmit you had sum great but your killed it. Release befor christmas or your loosing more money than your spending to make this game.

  356. Black Ass Mama / White Ass Daddy on November 3, 2013
"We"? Who the fuck is "we"? Everything that's up with this delay revolves around politics and revenue for Ubisoft. Not programming. Not technical enhancements. Certainly not "polishing". There's nothing to polish, that game is done. So, speak for yourself and leave that "we" shit for the other simps out there because that's what you sound like. Ubisoft does not give one fuck about you or what you've done every year. It's business strategy, plain and simple. You sound like a moron. You, to your girlfriend (Ubisoft) - "You can sleep with as many of my friends as you want as long as you let me get some too". Your girlfriend (Ubisoft) to you - "Absolutely, right not I'm just taking some time to polish things up for you. You can hit again between April and June of 2014. I'll be sure to keep you posted." Moron.
  357. Jess on November 4, 2013
I've been waiting for this game for a long time with the thought in mind that it's going to be unbelievably amazing. I'm so excited for it, and even though the release date has been prolonged, I'm still as excited as ever and cannot wait. The time will fly by, and when it is released, it will be huge and well worth the wait. Anyone upset about the extended time just needs patience, yes you're upset, but when the game comes out you'll be over the moon. Just focus on that feeling you had about this game when you thought it was going to be released in a few weeks. You were already waiting for it because you want to play it. You'll still get to play it, it'll just take a while longer to get it first. Stop moaning guys, it's going to be great! If you get the game and don't think it's great after all the wait, then you can moan, but for now, just be happy this game was created at all. I'm simply grateful for all the gameplay videos right now, those who created this game should be proud.

Actually, I can't say that I'm too saddened by this. I mean, I did really want to play this over the holidays this year but now I've got time to actually pay off my pre-order on my collector's edition! It takes me a long time to save up this kind of money but I believe it'll be worth it once they finish up what they've got to do, huh?

LOL, so after reading loads of posts, I have a simple question. Does anyone here know how long it takes to package this game and ship it all over the world in time for launch? 4 weeks from launch.....Doesn't that seem a bit odd? That tells me the games are on the disks, the packages are already assembled. what we will get is the game on launch day (when ever that is) and a very large patch. I don't think they would spend the money to we do all the copies of the game and pay to have them repackaged. that being said, I have just know completed AC4, (Great story and game in my opinion.) and if the game is in a none polished but complete game, you as UBIsoft to keep or appetite going for this title, should think about releasing a demo of it on the current gen systems, and even on the next gen systems. I think that would keep people excited as well as give you dirt cheap feedback and beta testers, at almost no cost to yourselves.
  361. Very disappointed on November 5, 2013
I am very disappointed with ubisoft. Ever since I saw it at the playstation meeting in February 2013 I have been looking forward to it. I have specifically pre-ordered the ps4 to play this game. I have been saving up my hard earned money to get this game and I am absolutely heart broken. Please ubisoft bring back the original release date. From a very disappointed customer.
  362. ShutUpandListen on November 5, 2013
Seriously guys.....calm the fuck down. Look at how many time Bioshock Infinte was delayed. Now look at how gorgeous that game looks and how amazing the story line was. Pushing back the release date gives the developers more time to fine tune the game and make sure it lives up to its expectations. So just calm down everybody.
  363. blackout459 on November 6, 2013
I have faith inUbisoft. I've played many of their games such as Assassin's Creed. I've been awaiting Watch Dogs ever since the first e3 showing. This isn't killing my hype for the game whatsoever. In fact, I'm even more pumped because I feel this delay will make the game that much better. Keep up the good work Ubisoft!

I really don't like the new release date, but if it gives more gameplay and better polish and design. I get it, you want to deliver a spectacular game for the new console, as well as the original ones. I hope that you'll add "many" more hours of missions/open world activities for singleplayer. I love games that have lots of hours in it :D lol. #AwesomeWorkSoFarUbisoft.

You know what with only 4 days away form the PS4 launch, I can say I am a bit sad, but I do understand. I would rather wait a few more months for a great game then get it on its original date for a ok game. Remember haste makes waste. So Ubisoft I support you 100% on this decision. And I cant wait to play Assassin Creed 4, thanks for the hard work fellas.

Glad that they decided to push back and consider the quality of their work and product. Most don't and leave us with issues and a lazy reply of "good enough." I, for one, appreciate that they recognized what was necessary for the benefit of the games success. Not hand us something they: "tried their best on. " Deadlines and demanded release dates from fans, pressure poor quality. Nice for the occasion to put a foot down and do things properly. CHEERS!
  375. THE DEVIL on November 11, 2013
UBISOFT KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING that they could NOT release the game by Nov 15th, but they used this fake Marketing BS to promote their product way in advance with all the hype with the new consoles (PS4 and XBOX One). Honestly, the reason i bought a PS4 was due to this game and it makes me VERY upset that now i dont have it for another six months!!!!!!! THIS SUCKS. They probably BS'ed SONY so much, that they game is even on the PS4 box graphic. THIS IS A SAD WAY OF MARKETING and i REALLY HOPE IT BACKFIRES ON YOU!!!!! of course not. Game industry is just as every other. You have paid, you can go f**k yourself. You will get not what you buy. You will get what they give you.I hope one day there will be an organization or something, which will protect us - the games. I hope one day ever game will have a demo and you will buy a game not because 1-2 screenshots or trailer, but because you've tested the game...

no more pre-order for any game. I am sick of paying 100 $ for title, to wait more than 6 months. Not receive anything more than other. And all of this for short single play and buggy multilayer. And now we have other example - the game will be released one year after I paid for it. I could be death at 30 june 2014.We all know that the game industry is not the one before 10 years, when we all played quality, beautiful games made with love. Now games are very expensive screenshots. How many times you guys were absolutely happy with a game for 100 $? Me... just two - Battlefield 3 and Planetside 2- they worth every dollar. So guys, think before pre-ordering. You will not get anything more. Maybe some useless skill, some poster, action figure... Does it worth it? Wait for the release. Play the cracked or demo version and see if you feel the game. If you think the developers deserve your money - buy it.Watchdog devs does not deserve it. This is not the first game they make. How could they not know they will fail to complete the game in time?

  391. Spastic_Fish on November 17, 2013
Okay I know the added 5-7 months are for pretty much fine tuning the game but one thing (I'm not sure if it's already being implemented) I would love to see is hacking into a car to turn the front wheels and therefore flip the car, sorta causing something like the traffic collision but in a way portable (as in it could happen anywhere there is cars). It could be helpful in a police chase and just make things that tiny bit more epic

There was a firm date set a few months ago, in my opinion a game company should not change a release date unless something like a bug that could shut down your system or cause it to explode is discovered. I think an incentive should be brought in to play for some peoples ability to wait. On a side note I have been looking forward to this game because of how much I've liked the assassins creed series. I just hope the wait for the "polished version" was worth it.

While I support a delayed release date, I got a feeling that it isn't for 'polishing.' Ubisoft has to meet certain sales numbers to satisfy their board of directors and ultimately the stock holders. Assassin's Creed 4 magically put Ubisoft over that projected number for the fiscal year of 2013. When does their next fiscal year start? March. It starts in March. ALL of Ubisoft's new games that aren't named Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag got pushed back to a release date of after March 2014. That means all of their sales for Watch Dogs and their other games will count toward the 2014 fiscal year. And by all accounts, Watch Dogs seems to be on pace to be a blockbuster hit with the projected sales numbers and pre-orders.So tell me this: IF Ubisoft met their yearly sales projection numbers for 2013 with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, wouldn't it make sense to withhold their newest and ultimately probably their next big franchise back until the 2014 fiscal year so it counts for those numbers on the stock reports? The executives can scream 'polishing' all they want. I am sure there will be some extra shine going into the product. But you can't convince me that the reason Ubisoft is pushing all of their games back until the 2014 fiscal year is because of 'polishing.'
    • Nixus237 on November 20, 2013

Dude it's a game relax I'm disapointed to but swearing, acting like a spoiled toddler and insulting the great company that's going to be making this amazing game is not helping your case or anyone else's it is only making you look like an idiot and wasting the time of the people reading these comments at Ubisoft.
    • ceekay on November 25, 2013
Couldn't agree more! Speaking of the fiscal year: all the additional content on Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag will be released before March 2014 for the same reason, so that all of its earnings would be counted on the 2013th fiscal year. Now about the "polishing": I can't understand the people that are saying that the expect the game to be bug free or polished or better. How will you know if the game is better in the Spring? Comparing to what? I can bet that it will come with the same load of bugs despite the fact that it was postponed "for polishing", the servers won't work for hours and the first patch will be available within the first month from launch.

Well this was disappointing in a way, but I know i can expect a better product in the future, thinking about it now, the game can potentially be released right now, it is ready for retail, but you are going to hold it polish it refine it and bugtest it for another few months, which is a lot of time for a big developer like Ubisoft. and most other developers want to push their next gen games out with the releases of the Xbox 1 and ps4 regardless of quality (well i'm exaggerating a but but remember sonic '06 HOW DID THAT GET RELEASED) and this shows that you actually care. some. of course this could be some ridiculously complex marketing scheme but thats just the cynical/pessimistic/paranoid part of me speaking. In short its sad but it will be better because of it ;Props to you Ubisoft!
  417. Dissapoint on November 26, 2013

Ubisoft is thinking there customers are naive or stupid. i have been waiting for ever now for this game to be released. every time i think its going to to be release they push it back more. well i have made up my mind and i know everyone in my crew feels the same. we waited this long we will wait and buy the game used.

Hi Gary, I have this pre-ordered for the PC and look forward to stressing my new rig a bit, there aren't many games that do at the moment. But I take it your all on Holiday right now because everything has gone quiet around this release? Would be really great just to have a confirmed release date even if it's Summer 2014!

      • Brad on January 9, 2014
I'm cool with waiting for a polished game (as it seems most people are), but it's been more than a month since you've been saying there'd be "more info soon", and a month before THAT since the last real update.Delays are one thing, but a total update blackout is no fun for anyone. We're itching for news, any sort of news, it's time to pull back the curtain a bit and give the world at least a hint that Watchdogs is still a thing that's happening. The last update being about a delay is ominous at best... waiting 2+ months after that update to say ANYTHING else is downright scary.

Isn't that what happened to Duke Nuk'em Forever? I'm noting some eerie similarities in terms of marketing and communication.

this is a perfect example of someone taking it lying down letting these companies jerk us around. they count on people like this to go around and creat a big hype so the companies make more $$$. all company do it Sony Nintendo Apple Microsoft.

OK, so, according to this site: Ubisoft had moved the release date again. Now it's close to the end of July. The news is based on the Amazon notification about the Watch Dogs Game Guide release date which was moved to 24-29 July 2014. Still the date, on UBIShop, is Spring 2014.
    • Chris on December 22, 2013
The post on amazon is just a placeholder date they put the place holder date there as the latest possible date it will be released so that people wont expect it to early then be angry with they're purchase when it doesn't come out when the date says.
  435. travis smith on December 18, 2013
I think it is a great decision to delay it. Its the greatest created game in history. I think it will be a great thing to do. Imagine how much better ubisoft will do now with this game. I'll wait for better quality. Keep up the good work guys! I'm proud of you all!!

its good news to me. better waiting a year and saying "ok, THIS is why they postponed it for a year..." than saying "wow watch dogs is out... wait oh shit this stuff is filled with crap."
  437. Shane on December 28, 2013
I cant wait for this game to be released, I have been looking forward to it, and the delay is just to make the game better, so why rush and get something terrible, when you can wait and get a better more detailed game? Most anticipated game of the year for me, hands down!!!!
  438. Chris on December 28, 2013
Well all i know is that theres no way in hell ubisoft needs another 6 Months to "polish it". what they say will take six months there probaly already half way done with by now. There only waiting for june so that they can get that precouse game of the year. I say release the thing early, make a whole lot of people happy, and keep some customers also. Otherwise, the longer you wait the less and less people are even going to care about it when it does get here. Sure there mad as hell right now, but i promise you, if you wait till june, half of them will have forgotten about watch dogs by the time march rolls around. So really, unless there really is an idiot running ubisoft, you guys shoulr really release it closer to march, or at the very least but out a beta for the xbox one and PS4 version. that way people will get a chance to see what its about and also to do some reminding of people that it will be out soon. And this crap floating around the internet about some sort of beta key giveaway? where did that crap come from? Please i really wanna know about this last part so please let me know.
  439. chris on December 28, 2013
I also would like to know something, you keep saying SPRING of 2014. Well what does that mean? Some people are saying its goign to be june, others are saying march 21st. So which is it, March 21st? which actually is SPRING. or June? which is actually SUMMER. Thats all i want to know cause 3 months can make a lot of difference,
  440. BrolicDeboBeast on January 2, 2014
Listen, stop worrying about release dates and profit. You will see profit when you release a FINISHED product. If it is not finished, then DON'T release it. I would much rather wait for a game that I can play rather than have some unfinished piece of trash. Battlefield 4 is a prime example. They may have made money right off, but I am sure it didn't or won't last long. I for one returned that piece of garbage and have told my friends not to waste their money and I will NOT be buying any more games with the EA on it for a LONG time. I personally think it should be illegal to even be selling something like that. It is false advertisement to the fullest. A complete robbery. I think EA deserves every lawsuit that comes to it. This is Battlefield 4 and EA's reputation, very bad. I think a good reputation can make you just as much money in the end as any other factor. So PLEASE, DELAY.....DELAY.....DELAY. Do what you got to do. Everybody has to wait for SOMETHING to be ready. It's nothing new. If it's not ready, then don't sell it. Plain and simple, not too mention, it will just add to people's anticipation, and when they finally get to releave all that anticipation on a well finished product, word will spread FAST which will add an infinite amount of profit and future credibility which will bring you more profit. I CAN'T WAIT to play WatchDogs
  441. Trenton on January 4, 2014
Ok Mr. Steinman, I know you guys are probably not gonna say anything for at least several more months about Watch Dogs so you can spring something on us, but please, throw the fans a bone. A new screenshot? A teaser site? Something?

Gary, I have read all the comments on here and made some a while back. I preordered it along time ago and paid if off almost right away. That doesn't bother me and I look forward to the game but my question is why has there been no updates or info about the game since back in early November. You were posting new screenshots and video demos of the game up till the time you guys decided to do the delay. I'm willing to wait for a clean polished game as you have stated but why go dark. You have had updates and visuals for us at least once or twice a week it seemed and now nothing. Not saying I have lost interest in playing the game just have lost interest in check the site as there is no new info provided for us to look at. I know some have claimed to move onto other products or games, which is there right but I'm afraid you will lose more people if you don't keep them in the loop. A lot of purchases and preorders are made off the way the community is portraying the game. I went looking today for more info or updates on the game and have found none. A couple sites claiming the game will be a huge 2014 game but there still using the details from last year. Same 14 minute demo that was released almost 3 months ago. Just don't understand why you would not want people seeing updates of the game and keeping them hyped for it. I'm sure you will try to have a huge PR push about a month or so before the release but I don't think daily or weekly updates will kill that hype. Let us see the progress as you make it. Kill all the rumors that there is no changes being made. Show us progress and please don't give me the same line you feed the last two times you replied on here "that in due time you will reveal something." I read that already. We have put money into this product, the least you could do is show us some progress.

So yet another month and no replies to our comments. The last reply you made Gary was on the 3rd of Dec. and your reply was to play black flag. That's not to reassuring to those that have paid money and are waiting patiently for updates or a glimpse of the new revised game. Everyone keeps posting about the game on here but are getting nothing back from you or your team. I remember on one of post back in November that you replied that you and members of the team read and reply to these posts. It's been a month. I think its time for a reply. One thing I have noticed is that the number of posts has dropped off a lot. If you look back at November or Decembers posts there was a post almost every day. Now there is gaps and a huge drop in number of posts as I stated would happen on the 8th when I posted last. People are gonna lose interest in the game if you don't keep them informed. Hopefully everything is going well with the polishing and updating and that's it not the other way around which is why were not getting updates. I'm sure some of my comments might come off as ranting a little, but it's not really. I just don't understand why you would go black with no info or updates unless it's worse than you had planned.

Hi Dan. We know it's been a while, and we genuinely appreciate your passion for Watch Dogs. It's this same passion - from the developers all the way through to our corporate overlords - that has driven our decision to delay the game so we can make Watch Dogs the very best it can be. The team is still working hard, and I know they peek into this post and into forums and social media threads... It's great for all of us to hear from people like you, who are driven by your desire for more info on the game. I know you don't want to hear "soon," but stay tuned...
      • Dan S. on January 28, 2014
As I do appreciate your reply to my post. You didn't give us any updates. Can you at least post about when you might have an update to post. I know you don't want to give false info so you might be lenient on giving any info, but even letting us have some screenshots to wet our tongues would probably be a nice thing for us.
        • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on January 28, 2014
Hah! You busted me, Dan. But "soon" is all I can share right now.
  455. Nick S. on January 31, 2014
I agree with Dan you say you appreciate our passion for the game yet you leave us in the dark. Passion should be rewarded, not placated by silver tongues that talk of 'soon'. Especially after what the fans had to put up with and continue to put up with but now with nothing to stoke their passions. I've seriously been thinking about pulling my pre-order for Watch dogs and putting the money toward another title but never have I though about it more seriously than after reading your apathetic answer Gary.

When will the date be confirmed?
  457. Watch Dogs on February 3, 2014
Damn, it better not be true that the game will be released on the 30th of June. It said "spring 2014 everywhere". Ubisoft isn't gonna break their promise again are they?
  458. Paolo on February 3, 2014
I see no problem with a delay, I always assume the game isn't ready yet so I think all companies should try to think quality first ! Of course it's a business, and if they don't want it to compete with another one of their own, it's understandable. Now the negatives, Watch Dogs will not be completely a Next Gen game, ig it was you would not be able to play it on the Old gen machines. Next Gen is not just cosmetics, you know ? It's mechanics, gameplay and other stuff that just shouldn't have to be possible on an old gen machine. Otherwise I do not see the satisfaction in owning a next gen version where you can get a cheaper, just as good version on your 360 or ps3. When I game will no longer possible on the Old Gen then it will be a proper next gen game for me.The other issue is why doesn't Ubisoft make a Football game ? Fifa is pretty much going alone now, with Pro Evolution falling way beyond. EA needs a proper rival, not Konami, someone who can get all the proper licences and release a "real" alternative to Fifa, the market allows it. Of course Ubisoft can always buy Konami and do a better job, it shouldn't be difficult.

Hearing that Ubisoft has abandoned the Watch Dogs trademark.... a name change to the game? Cancellation?
    • Anne Lewis | Communications Associate on February 3, 2014
We are working directly with the USPTO on reinstating the trademark for Watch Dogs and it will be active again in the coming days. The matter has no impact on Watch Dogs' development.
  460. hey ubisoft on February 4, 2014
This was my most anticipated game of the year. I've watched every video on YouTube, and checked daily for info on the game. I am obviously a huge fan.. You guys have left every single one of your biggest fans in the dark. Don't be surprised when you start seeing pre orders drop. I know mine will. I feel like you guys have had enough time with the game. I mean what could have been so wrong that it could take this long, and have you so busy that you can't even communicate with your fans. Just release it in March before infamous second son so you don't lose most of your ps4 fans to a game that has a similar situation with the idea of surveillance. As a gamer with a limited budget I have to choose carefully what I buy. I'm going to get Infamous second son because they care about their fans, and can get their shit done on time.
  461. Perdro on February 9, 2014
I find it hard to believe that the Watch Dog's staff has left us in the dark wondering when we will be able to actually know when we are getting our game. This was one of the most anticipated games of the year and now we don't even know if it's coming out in the Spring of '14 or Summer. Amazon has the game release as June 20th 2014 which is well over the "Spring Release". I find it disappointing how no one was from Ubisoft has replied to us and given us some concrete information on when the game is being released or if there are any issues right now as they prepare for release in the next 2-3 months. I sure hope Ubisoft makes it up to us for making us wait this long.

  463. ceekay on February 9, 2014
Now, from what I remember with the previous games, Ubisoft made a reaaaaaally big promo campaign at least one month before launching. But, to be sure, the last three months prior to a game release were actually drowning in info on that game. Today is almost half of the February gone. There's still silence, which means the game won't happen to launch in March, and that's kind of a definite thing. If it is to launch in April, Ubi must really start to get going rebuilding the lost hype, because, come on, there's one and a half months until April. With that said, it starts to become clear the thing that Ubisoft didn't plan to launch the game in the 2013 fiscal year, which ends in March - therefore proving to the users that all Ubisoft thinks about is the money, and not the people who almost lost their trust in them. And I'm kind of sure the game will launch not earlier than May month, or even June, just like it's said on Amazon. On the other hand, I'm starting to believe the game won't launch at all, mostly because they abandoned the trademark (which I don't know if it was something for the moment or it's really going to change the title or they're going to sell the game to some other company)... And because in October-November last year, Amazon gave some access codes to be redeemed in-game, because there were no Online bonus packs...
  464. D-500 on February 9, 2014
Ubisoft still has a lot to learn. Most of their games are not bad, and I do completely understand why they delayed the game and am sure people will be getting a better product. I think however that no communication always has a negative effect on the community and that regular (video or interview) updates should be a method to keep the fans in the loop. No communication is bad publicity and de-hype for every follower and fan of the game.

I'd be very happy about the wait for Watch Dogs if it meant offering options for stealth players to complete the ALL missions with no kills. 'Almost' a stealth path (95%) still means forced kills (5%) - kinda defeats the point of embracing the stealth challenge at all. At the moment it's enough to put me off buying the game.
  475. Dan on February 25, 2014
Well we heard soon for the past 4 months. So I guess Very soon would be about 3 or if where lucky 2 but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. There has been no hype for it by showing video or previews of it. It wouldn't be smart on there part to just release it without TV ads and hype on the internet. So I'm guessing where looking at June or July if we're lucky.

I have seen three or four different trailers for it. They all say the 27th. I'm pretty sure they won't put this date unless it was already done and just needed a final testing done on it. They don't want to delay again, so close to release this time. I think they would lose all their orders if they did that. Didn't see any actual gameplay in the trailer, so lets hope they start releasing more videos so we can see the improvements they made.

Every single trailer, with the exception of the PS3 version, had what truly appeared to be next generation graphics. I've seen them all. This game didn't look as good as The Division, but it looked amazing nonetheless. The game play graphics from this May 27th announcement trailer looked like a stone age step backwards from everything else I've seen of this game. These were your improvements? This is what the delay was all about?A fool and his money are soon parted. That's why mine is staying firmly in my pocket. Screw this game. I'm out.

With regards to the "changes" that caused the game to be delayed.Excerpt from an interview with"Obviously what's different, is that we're scaling the dynamism and the detail of the city and the gameplay. So it's stuff like the amount of civilians in the street, the amount of cars in the street, the detail in the animation, or how sophisticated some reactions are to some of your actions. So some of those things are scaled down. Obviously the graphics, but that one's obvious." - Dominic GuayWHAT THE FUCK??!!You're changes t make the game "better" actually dumbed down the scope and graphics? From the bottom of my heart... fuck you.Ubisoft shall not receive a penny from me for this game. I just saw the new release date trailer too. It looks like a stone age step backward from the previous trailers last year.Congratulations assholes. You won't be getting one red cent out of me. Any sucker that buys this game after the lies and an "overhaul" that actually diluted the whiskey instead of stepping up the proof, is a fucking chump.End of line.

Not as worried tbh. Will probably just take a tweek of the GFX options under DX11.2 to turn ultra on shadows, lighting, physx anti aliasing etc etc and it will prob be somewhere close to the E3 demo again. Stunning. + gameplay and story look immense!

Keep on drinking that "kool-aid" my son. While you're at it keep on paying for less products that ship with a less than advertised quality. If I am show a portrait of a filet mignon and it looks 5 star, then by god that's PRECISELY what I want on my plate when I order it. What I don't want is a under-cooked, over-hyped mignon substitute. it's the difference between alaskan king crab and imitation. I would never pay for one when I ordered and was advertised the other. No way.

All I am saying is that most likely it will look great on a PC (Medium-Rare Mignon), I've read that the recent trailer was from PS4 footage, so as a PC Gamer, I am not too worried.

For your sake and others like you, I truly hope you get the meal you were promised. I'm being serious. I just cannot bring myself to trust this company anymore. I'm not buying this game and I pray to all that is holy "The Division" doesn't suffer the same kind of fate when it's finally released. So, if they managed to keep the physics, particle effects and rendering in there for you PC guys, more power, man. But we won't see until we see. Good luck.

According to the Ubisoft UK site: Watch Dogs for Wii U Release Date: Spring 2014Watch Dogs for Wii U Release Date: Coming 2014 Wh..wh..what is that? UK Wii U owners get it before us! I think that either Ubisoft should delay the UK launch till later this year OR release the US versión in spring. It's just not fair.

I could have predicted that when Ubisoft says that the release date is "spring", it's gonna be towards the very end of spring (may 27th). Pricks. At least they didn't delay it again (yet) though, except the wii u version, which they delayed a second time. Horrible company that gives customers false hopes, delivering worthless games. I hope everyone pirates the game so that it´s them who get screwed this time. At the start Watch Dogs was one of the few games I was willing to buy instead of pirate because it looked awesome, but by now I have lost all faith in Ubisoft.

Question, I'm pretty sure someone else asked, but is there a playable demo available after we pre-order? I pre-ordered this morning, and it said something about the full game being available on the 27th next month, so I was just curious.

Wouldnt bother.. Game is a rip off, over hyped, over priced, cant deliver half what it says and all the bugs alone should make you want to avoid it(problems loading, logging in, laggy and unplayable when driving) and for all those people who say - check system specs. I got a machine that should destroy this game but alas no. specs = crossfired R290X, Intel i7-4930K, 16 GB, RAID 0 Paired Veloci Raptors 600GB and still horrid to play...

Have something to say?
