Watch Dogs – ctOS Mobile App FAQ

Play in real time from your phone or tablet. Play anywhere you want, with anyone you want. And play for free. That’s the philosophy behind the Watch Dogs ctOS Mobile app. And, having tested the app during a recent hands-on session, we can also affirm the most important thing it offers: ctOS Mobile is a ton of fun.

Watch Dogs ctOS Mobile FAQ

But we had some questions. And we’re fairly sure you have many of the same questions. So we cornered Philippe Baude, Lead Gameplay Designer for the Watch Dogs app, and pulled him away from his own tablet long enough to grill him on every last detail of ctOS Mobile.

Note: Scroll to the bottom of the page for links to download ctOS Mobile.

OK, What Exactly Is ctOS Mobile

ctOS Mobile has two primary ways to play with your friends on console and PC: Race and Free Ride. Both modes are adversarial, pitting the console/PC player against the mobile player. On the console/PC, the player must race from checkpoint to checkpoint. Every time a checkpoint is passed, more time is added back to the clock. The goal is to reach the final checkpoint before time runs out.

On the mobile app, the player is doing everything in his power to thwart his adversary. How so? By hacking into the city via a top-down map, triggering blockers, setting off explosions and causing all kinds of mayhem. Using ctOS Mobile, the player can also attack from above via a helicopter (complete with a sniper); and he can send the local police into hot pursuit.

The differences between Race and Free Ride? With Races, the distances between checkpoints are shorter and the GPS is on for the console/PC player. With Free Ride, the distances are wider and the GPS is off by default. “It’s a bit harder and it’s more tactical,” Baude says about Free Ride. In both modes, the mobile player wins if he can stop his foe from reaching all the checkpoints.

Watch Dogs – ctOS Mobile App FAQ

Can I Play With Anyone I Want?

Yep, you sure can. To start off, you’ll need to log in with your Xbox Live, PlayStation Network or Uplay account. If you don’t have an account with any of the above, you can easily create a new one, using a free PSN or Xbox Live Silver account. (Uplay is always free.) Then, you simply enter your friend’s ID, and he’ll pop up in your system; if he’s available, you can invite him to play with you. Remember, though, you need to be logged in to an account on the same system as your friend in order to play with him.

Don’t worry if you don’t know anyone, or if your friends are all offline at the moment, or if you just want to play against strangers. In that case, simply choose Quick Match, and the matchmaking will find you an available player at your relative level. In other words, if you’ve reached a high level in ctOS Mobile, “we try to match you up with people who are more advanced in the game,” Baude says.

ctOS Mobile also crosses console generations: While you’re logged in with an Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account, you’ll be able to play against gamers on both gens. What’s more, you can essentially pick which platforms you want to play against – you can stay logged in to all three major accounts, or you focus on whichever platform(s) suit you.

Does My Profile Connect to Console/PC?

Nope. But that’s a good thing. ctOS Mobile has its own full (and fully discrete) progression system. As you gain experience, you’ll be able to improve your skills and enhance your options. For example, you’ll be able to unlock four different police units; increase your ctOS powers to activate more hacks; or boost your helicopter by improving your pilot and sniper.

Watch Dogs ctOS Mobile FAQ

For those playing Watch Dogs, everything earned while battling against a ctOS Mobile player stays in the system. “For the console player it’s exactly like he’s playing any online mode,” Baude says. That means all the experience, cash, and other benefits stay with the player, in the same way that it does when playing Invasion, Decryption or any other seamless online mode in Watch Dogs.

In other words, it’s not just fun. Everyone is gaining experience and other perks. “It’s two separated progressions, but at the end it’s a win-win for both,” Baude smiles. “Of course, if you manage to win, you win even more.”

Are There Enough Challenges to Keep Me Challenged?

ctOS Mobile has 26 challenges: 13 Races, 13 Free Rides. That’s plenty to keep you busy – and, dare we say, challenged – for quite a while.

But if you’re a power player, or if you simply want to create your own challenges, ctOS Mobile also comes with a full map generator. You can customize everything from the challenge’s starting point to the number of checkpoints along the way, how much time the console player will begin with, and how much time will be added with each checkpoint. “You can even choose the weather and the time of day,” Baude says.

You don’t have to be connected to anyone to build your own challenges – but you can have some fun sitting side-by-side with another player, building a challenge then testing it out together.

I’m Sold – But Is It Really Free?

Yessir. You won’t need to spend a single penny to enjoy everything that ctOS Mobile has to offer. It’s completely, totally, 100% free. There are absolutely no in-app purchases or microtransactions. You don’t even have to own Watch Dogs on console or PC in order to enjoy ctOS Mobile.

Can you make this app for Surface RT?
    • Xander on May 27, 2014
      Please?
    • la_bruin on May 28, 2014
No Modern Windows 8.1 version? I mean, even with all the integration between Xbox & Windows... wow. I won't even ask about Windows Phone then, right? Sigh.
    • Jessi on May 28, 2014
      Pretty please!
      • John Bonom on May 29, 2014
What an oversight! Windows 8.1 is literally everywhere and those with windows phones miss out from release date. Like, the xbox integration between windows 8 devices is huge and we don't get the cTos app to play with too! Lame
        • John on June 7, 2014
I agree 100%. This is a game that is huge on the Xbox 360 and Xbox 1, but there is no Windows mobile support? I understand that app developers go for the market dominating android and ios devices, but you would think that either Microsoft would have helped make it compatible with Windows phones or they would have insisted that Ubisoft do it as a condition of selling it for Xbox.
  3. Dylan Chapotelle on May 26, 2014
I only have Windows 8 devices. Why are Windows 8 phones and Tablets not supported? If you plan on adding support for them in the future, then when?
    • John Bonom on May 29, 2014
Exactly! I feel like the massive win8.1 user base is missing out! Especially since I have a surfacert which is great for smart glass and general everyday useability. A pit of an oversight to not include a win8.1 app!
    • De Vermeire on June 7, 2014
It's not here you have to complain about Windows is not supported. Go to the Microsoft Fora for that. Don't forget it's Microsoft's fault, they promised thousands of Apps at the release of Win8(RT).What you can worry about is (as an android user): Look at what rights you give the App when you download it, just for that I will not ever download this App.

Can you please make it avaible for Motorola moto g?
    • Tommy on May 26, 2014
The app, while great, is another disappointment given such a short list of devices, and no Windows phones/tablets support. This, after a six-month delay and continued verbiage of "consoles and PC", when it has been the other way around the whole time. This is a PC game first and foremost, with consoles the afterthought (900p PS4, 729p XB1 both at 30FPS vs. 1440p and 60FPS PC). I sincerely hope the list of devices expands more sooner than later, and that Watch_Dogs 2 will at least be optimized for next-gen consoles, if not designed specifically for them (60FPS and 1080p PS4/900p XB1). With six years of development and an initial game under your collective belts, there's no excuse for the sequel to be lacking in any way.
      • Steve on May 27, 2014
That's a little disingenuous comparing consoles with their fixed hardware specification to the maximum perceived frame rates on a PC with unspecified hardware. The gross majority of PC gamers won't be seeing the game at comparable detail levels in 1440p and certainly not at 60FPS. Those that are invested significantly more than the cost of both current-gen consolesIt doesn't strengthen your argument as much as totally undermine it
    • Jon on May 28, 2014
I second that, please allow the moto g..
  6. William on May 26, 2014
MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE MISSING!!!I am sure that many would agree that if instead of making another video game to play ubi should have taken the time to develop an application that interacts directly with the game while you are playing it.Use it as your map and select waypoints/destinations.Use it to order up a car or run other apps that are on your in game cell.
    • Shaonin on May 27, 2014
stop crying for nothing. It already exist, Just buy a wiiU if you want that kind of features.
      • itsMe on May 27, 2014
Stop telling nonsense. Watch Dogs will not come for WiiU. A companion-app with map etc. would make sense!
        • Steve on May 27, 2014
Watch Dogs is confirmed for Wii U and will arrive in the fall.
  7. Dustin on May 26, 2014
Will it be available for Galaxy Centura?
  8. Ben on May 26, 2014
Windows Phone support needs to come soon. Why do most developers forget about Windows Phone?
    • Shadow on May 29, 2014
While I understand your frustration.. you have to realize, Windows phones made up 3.2% of all smartphone sales in 2013. Which means, no one sees a reason to worry about it. If/when market share increases so will developers.
  9. Travis on May 26, 2014
Are you censoring comments? This does not speak good of you... I did not say anything offensive nor anything like that!

Are you censoring comments? This does not speak good of you... I did not say anything offensive nor anything like that! Shame on you Ubi...
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on May 26, 2014
Hi Travis, we generally don't delete comments unless they have hate speech or are spam (ads for other products; too many links; etc). But sometimes it takes a few minutes for the comments to appear on the page.
      • Travis on May 26, 2014
Ha! Nicely done... you have described subtly every aspect of my comment and successfully justified your action. What I can say is that I only posted 1 link (actually there were 2 but they were the same), I did not make an agressive opinion of WD, just a critique, and I did not advertise other products (though I actually mentioned the name of one of your competitors, but that shouldn't bristle you...)
        • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on May 26, 2014
I just noticed the comment that's still in stasis. You were fine, you didn't say anything hateful. You had some issues with our game, but you're certainly allowed to speak your mind here! I think our blog commenting system flagged it because of the two links. I'll see what I can do to fix that tomorrow...
          • Travis on May 26, 2014
Ok, thanks! I'll make a proper opinion on the game when I play it. For me, there are exactly 12 hours to go!!! For us, this is the end of an epic journey of waiting, but the beggining of an even more epic one of playing.

COME ON, BRING IT TO WINDOWS! YOU'RE MAKING A GAME FOR WINDOWS COMPUTERS ANYWAY!
  12. Duncan on May 26, 2014
Will the companion app ever be released for devices running WP 8.1? I understand that making apps for different platforms can be a pain, but since a lot of the features on windows phones are already integrated into Xbox live, it seems like it would be worth the dev time to make the app.
  13. Victor Hugo K. on May 26, 2014

  14. Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on May 26, 2014
Regarding requests for specific phones and tablets: the initial lineup of compatible devices is in the post. I'll be sure to ask the team about any new devices, and we'll update this post as we know. Thanks!
    • a_guy on May 27, 2014
Please make note of the sheer number of requests for Windows Phone and Win 8/RT. I don't think I've ever seen so many requests for a platform on one article!

    • Matthew Muscarella on May 28, 2014
How do you give this to the Kindle before Windows Phones. The Kindle doesn't even count as an Android device, it uses Amazon instead of google play. Would you rather make the app for 20 people on the kindle fire than the thousands of people using Windows Phone 8?
    • Ian on May 28, 2014

    • Danny on May 27, 2014
Sadly it doesnt.... :( I dont see why not put it since Ipod touch 5 has the same screen as the Iphone 5 and Ipod is made to play, so why is it not compatible? I hereby ask Ubisoft and the Community manager to check if its possible to add IPod Touch 5 to compatible devices. Please.

Same thing happened with GTA 5 - no Windows support... I know that Sony get an extra hour in all their games from you- but, seriously - this is a free app - could you drop the bias?
  24. joshua on May 26, 2014
you say you need to log into the same system to play with a friend. so my question is can you invite online players from other states because i saw nothing about that. all i saw was you guys saying you must be on the same system witch i hope that's not the case. i would love to be able to invite my friends to my lobby and if i can do that can we play missions together? i really hope so cause it would make it more fun and team based witch is more the type of games i like.
    • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on May 26, 2014
Hi Joshua... What we mean is, you need an account on the same system in order to play with others using that system. So if you log in with a PSN ID, you can play with anyone else who's on PS3/PS4. Same with an XBL Gamertag (Xbox 360/Xbox One) and Uplay (PC). You don't have to be on the same exact console/PC, though.
      • Jeff on May 26, 2014
Why do you only respond to comments like this and not others?
        • Gary Steinman | Communications Manager Author on May 26, 2014
We try to answer as many questions as we can. Joshua had a good question that we could answer. Regarding questions about supported devices (if that's what you're referring to), I commented earlier that we'll update you as we learn more. Hope that helps!

Why on earth people in the UK have to wait for the app to be released in the US is beyond me. Nothing against the US or it's people, but people in the UK will have the game long before the app is actually released, due to midnight opening and/or early delivery of the game. You should just stagger the release of the app, there is no point in waiting. It's also poor that more Windows isn't covered it would of been nice to include people with Windows enabled devices right from the off. When will the big companies stop with the BS and cater for everyone?
  37. What? on May 26, 2014
LG Optimus G2 isn't even a phone. If it is in fact talking about the LG G2, why doesn't the H_IDE app (Released by Ubisoft) work for it? The phone isn't even a year old, yet there's phones in this list from 2011 that get support?Am I missing something?

For anyone upset that they can't get the mobile app on Windows devices, there is a program that will let you run any Android programs from a PC. I've never tried to run the program on my windows 8.1 tablet but, it would be worth a look. The program is called BlueStacks. (I am in no way affiliated with the product)
    • JnZooger on May 29, 2014
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to want to work on Bluestacks. Just tried it, and though it will install, it blackscreens and then crashes when you try to launch it.

Hey, hopefully you will answer my question!! I had my vigilante edition pre ordered, i think without the ctos app the gamers on windows platform (phone/tablet) would be at a major disadvantage. You should work as quick as possible to get the app for it and also the h_ide app too. Please let us know as soon you get it for windows 4-8 (i still have the old edition)

  69. MrWyoskyguy on May 27, 2014
You have to understand when they say global launch, that means when everybody has the same chance at getting the app.Complaining about it doesn't help. Neither does saying that your device doesn't have support. They listed the devices that are final, deal with it. I expect the app to be released around 5 AM, which is when Hawaii will be getting their game.

I request that this be made available for Windows 8 / RT and Windows Phone. • Luke on May 27, 2014
Which obviously makes perfect sense... pass up a game that looks absolutely fantastic because the mobile app isn't compatible with a platform that holds a very small fraction of the market share. (Where's blackberry support?)
  124. Mark on May 27, 2014
This app needs to be on the iPod Touch 5th Gen. I can't see a reason why it is not available for the device.
  125. a_guy on May 27, 2014
No Windows 8 or WP8 app? Your WHOLE GAME is on the Windows platform.
  126. Devin R on May 27, 2014
Why was it never established for the list of supported devices before recently? I've only an iPod Touch 5th gen and have been looking forward to using this app since I preordered Watch_Dogs (And when I preordered I never received the supposed preorder bonus Gamestop was giving outm must talk to them about that) I just wish that it had been let known ahead of time so I would not of gotten my hopes up for this app.. Maybe not even wasted my money on the game itself.

    • Tiandis on May 29, 2014
I have the same question! This was something that sold me on this experience and I haven't seen one word about it. Where is the co-op option for the companion app UbiSoft showed us at E3???
  128. Goony on May 27, 2014
Why?....Why not supporting Windows Phone, Windows 8 RT. Why? Why all those big publishers not supporting Windows Envrioments for your WINDOWS GAME!?Shame on you!
    • Luke on May 27, 2014
To be fair, the windows phone and windows RT user base is very small (a fraction of the user base of say... Mac OS which doesn't have any support). It's not strange to me if there's no planned support for platforms which have a minor impact on the market.
      • a_guy on May 27, 2014
Fair enough, but Windows Phone and Win8 are now universal. Meaning they can make an app and have it run on the phone, RT, and regular Windows (Store app) with little to no change in code. All of those together are a pretty large market.
        • Luke on May 27, 2014
As someone who works internet tech support and takes calls all day assisting with customers' equipment, I can honestly tell you that the total market share for all 3 platforms you listed is at most 25%. Even though they all have a unified architecture (with windows 8 apps running in a compatibility layer), that's still an abysmal market share. Also, keep in mind, that this is a "Mobile" app. When considering devices for a "Mobile" app, laptops and desktop computers aren't usually part of the consideration. (How many windows 8 desktop and laptop users do you seriously think are going to play this game [which is designed specifically around touch interface] on the device in question?)I know it's frustrating to be left out of the loop on things like this, but you have to consider the fact that ubisoft is a business, and windows phone is not a profitable platform because of the market share. Also, consider that there is absolutely no revenue stream for this app. The app is designed solely to provide an augmented experience to the full game. It's more of a "Thanks for buying the game, here's a bonus." There's no real mystery as to why it wasn't built for WP8, honestly.
          • a_guy on May 27, 2014
Win 8 desktop and laptop? Naw man... Win 8 tablets. Not to mention just about every Win 8 laptop (and many desktops) are indeed touch screen anyways. I'm a developer and have an iPad from every Gen (except the Air) for testing. I'm not left out, I just think its dumb to overlook Windows 8/Phone/RT devices when you're talking about a game that is released on THREE Microsoft platforms.

Too many issues, got home while it was downloading, its completely downloaded. Uplay kicked me off, I clicked on uplay again, took 2 mins to figure out if there were any updates. Logged in, that took another 3 mins, when this usually takes a few seconds. Now I tried logging in again, says Im not connected to the internet which Iam. But wait, I tried logging in again, and now it works, then I click on Watch_Dogs to play, well then that messes up on syncronizing save games to cloud, well thats funny because I haven't even played it yet.
  134. Cockney Charmer on May 27, 2014
Going to join in the with the other WP8 voices here....so sick and tired of big Publishers failing to acknowledge those using WP8 by ignoring it when releasing companion apps. All it does is serve as an FU to us and there is no legitimate reason why you dont work on the app to work on WP8. Makes you look poor as a publisher imo to leave out so many gamers who simply chose not to be sheep.
    • Oraculum on May 27, 2014
There is absolutely a reason developers don't develop for WP8.Why? Microsoft. Not only did Microsoft release their product long after the party started (5 years late), but they did so using a different language than the others. So now not only do you need specialized developers for their product, but you need these specialized developers for a product that only has 3.2% of the total market share.Personally I love WP8 phones, but until Microsoft does something drastic, I literally can't use them due to the fact that NO ONE MAKES ANYTHING FOR THEM.
      • a_guy on May 27, 2014
B.S. Apple is the one that uses a different language than everyone (objective C).

    • Davy on May 28, 2014
I don't see the problem, the ctOS mobile app is free. And it's not needed the play WD. It's not a companion app like the companion app for ACIV. It's a standalone game. You play against pc and console users. They being Aiden and you the police trying to stop them. Please don't make a big deal about this app, Play WD without the ctOS moble app and you really miss nothing. It adds nothing to the WD game itsself...
      • Accridition on May 30, 2014
If it's nothing and adds nothing to the experience, why did they bother producing and releasing it at all? I'm seriously going to stop buying Ubi games if they don't start supporting Windows endpoints with companion apps.

I connected with a friend who has Watchdogs for the PS4, and we had a blast playing this tonight (went from 1-16 in the time we played) Aside from the lag everything worked fine.Unfortunately the matchmaking feature doesn't seem to be working at all. It just sits there and searches for someone forever, and then maybe returns an error that there's nobody playing; something that I call BS on.The lag also seems to be effecting arming times for hazards and police vehicle drops. I could try and cut off my friend by raising a barrier, but it seems to be hit or miss whether it arms in time. We were playing over the phone, each of us with a headset in our ear, and at the start of a match I would drop a hazard or car on the map and would hear the dispatch radio announcement on his end, but as the match wore on we would lag further and further apart to the point that it was taking upwards of 10 seconds for it to register on my end he had passed a checkpoint. This isn't a case of us living on opposite sides of a continent either, we live maybe 20 minutes from each other in heavy traffic. I guess my question would be if we can expect these issues to be fixed, because this kind of multiplayer connectivity is just an absolute blast. It's really a great feeling to set up a trap for him, and then seconds later hear his cries of "No..noooo!!", and vice versa when he whammies my chopper with a hack.

I thought it to be great but because I use a WP8 I'm left out in the cold for no rhyme or reason can even get so much as an answer as to why no wp8 app for this game was thought of. 201. Nick on May 30, 2014
As somebody who only possesses Windows and Windows Phone devices, I feel a bit left out and let down by Ubisoft over this app. With the tight integration that there is between Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox, there really is no excuse for this app not being available on those platforms. I am sure that there are a lot of potential customers who may have been slightly put off the game by the lack of app for us Windows Phone owners, I know that it certainly had some affect on my decision to purchase the game on launch day rather than later on (I was tempted to put off getting the game until a Windows Phone app was launched).Thanks.
  202. Dan Del Aguaro on May 30, 2014
This app has never worked since release. My Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn't even login, or if I don't login, the app just closes on itself. Google Nexus Tablet? Pfft, doesn't even work either, and still have to login to UDONTplay and never had an issue til Watch Dogs came out. For this WatchDogs gets a terrible review from me, and several others.
  203. Alex on May 30, 2014
Why don't you use a SmartGlass companion for XBox One and 360? Is there any major issue for not doing this and make a full new app? Developing for Windows Phone is not so hard, I believe its easier than other platforms but you choose to ignore the Windows Phone platform.... Shame...

Hi there. I am also one of the many people requesting for Windows 8 Phone, Nokia Windows 8, etc... My iPod Touch didn't seem to be able to download the app because it doesn't have a 'compass', which is a GPS, but that was something I did not have. But it would be much appreciated if you could give Windows 8 users the application, because sadly, most developers do not support the players of that device. Thank you!
  207. Shial on May 30, 2014
WHY are you ignoring Windows 8 and Windows Phone for Watch_Dogs? Your smart stickers, hologram cads from collectors edition and not even this application is not for WP owners. 214. dopefacekilllah on May 31, 2014
I believe in you Mr. Steinman. This is why I am sending you this message. I think that you can right the wrongs in this world. The Watch Dogs CTOS Mobile App has got it all wrong. Now hear me out. My boyfriend and I are very competitive against one another, especially when it comes to games. Now I can openly admit, I rarely can beat him in virtually anything we play together. So when the opportunity arises to do so, it is completely heart wrenching when a victory that is so rightful your own is snatched away.WATCH DOGS IS UNREALISTIC.Now if I destroy his vehicle and my sniper smokes him from my helicopter...I should WIN. Yet, he gets to respawn and I must play catch up and fly my way over to where I previously destroyed him.Now if my SUVs ram him so hard that his car combusted and he chickeningly escapes and tries to run away, and I pursue said suspect with my helicopter and destroy him once again with not one, but three sniper bullets...I should WIN. Yet, he respawns, reaches the remaining checkpoints, and I am told I have failed. This is not right. My feelings are hurt. With your video game powers, I am calling on you to kindly ask the people at Ubisoft that fix all things wrong in the game, to allow me, the helicopter snipers, and millions of other devoted fans the right to win the match by elimination.Thank you for listening and making this right. It only seems fair. I am sure you would agree.
    • Tiandis on June 1, 2014
While I can agree with you on that, I can at least tell you that if you're hammering him like that, he may reach all the checkpoints, but you're still whoopin' his ass. Be proud of that. :)
    • Apooss on June 3, 2014
Agree, I find it terrible that the character gets out of the car with full health when his car has been reduced to a mash and really, there should be a limit of one respawn (if your car fall in the water, you're done for so one respawn is reasonable).

So basically it's a neat mobile game with ZERO incentive for someone who OWNS watchdogs to play? And ZERO incentive to play against a mobile player because I lose in game points/perks/progression if I lose cuz someone without the game Tweeks out on the mobile game?No benifit I can see to use the app or accept a challenge from a mobile player. I'm better off risking my points online against actual players...

Yes--this needs a Windows/Win Phone version NOW! Lots of loyal customers--we're waiting patiently on YOU, Ubi. Xbox/Windows users are aplenty, but you're only supporting Apple and Android?
    • Amz on June 4, 2014
I completely agree with your comment. It's a kick in the teeth to xbox owners and windows mobile owners. Ubisoft need to fix this, Xbox have even made a platform in the shape of Smartglass to be able to help developers make companion apps and what do Ubisoft do? Snub every windows mobile owner and every xbox owner using smartglass. How about doing something for the community Ubisoft? giving a little back to the windows mobile owners who have spent their hard earned money on your game. I have a Lumia 1520 with a 6" screen, 2GB Ram and a 2.2Ghz Quadcore Processor, the perfect device for the companion app, yet I cant even benefit from it. I have bought into the Microsoft ecosystem to be able to have a similar experience across my devices. Is money the only thing that motivates you Ubi? We all know the PS4 has huge sales, and that IOs and Android are huge, but what about the millions of Xbox and Windows mobile owners? Why do we have to be left by the wayside? We are the ones trying to broaden the choice to consumers by choosing the windows mobile platform, how about supporting us for a change, instead of chasing after money money money.I hope you understand this and can spare a man or two for a few days to port the app to windows... or is that asking too much after you have taken my £60 for the game.

How is windows phone left out? Must be a bunch of tools at ubisoft. Addicted to the lame ios turds. My windows phone should've been top priority since its the only phone directly made bye a console company. Its painfully obvious there is a clear lack of intelligence at the app department.
  234. metalman86 on June 2, 2014
Ok, I found more people that have it on their iPod Touch 5th gen. Their iPods also happen to be Jailbroken, the weird thing though, is that they didn't modify anything on their iPods to confuse the app into working on their device. This is just more proof that the app works on iPod Touch 5th gen, but for some reason it doesn't officially "working".
  235. Metalman86 on June 2, 2014

  237. Apooss on June 3, 2014
Love the app however there are way too many "unfair" players who disconnect once you manage to corner them AND you don't get any XP when someone does that which makes it even more frustrating. In the console version you can leave positive and negative feedback on players, would be great if that was possible in the ctOS app too. My last 5 opponents dropped, did not get any XP for a full hour of play :(
  238. Dale White on June 3, 2014

Ubisoft,Tried a few times downloading and installing the Watch Dogs companion app onto my Motorola Droid Bionic and an error pops up that it can't install onto the SD card.Saw a couple people with the same issue on here so was just wondering if this is a bug or do we need to do something to allow a successful installation?Great game btw, can't wait to try the mobile app when or if it ever works for me and others wanting to try this mobile app.Side note- I played WD on my PS4 against an unknown mobile app player and pretty much barely escaped from their devious blocks, snipers and police chasers! Pretty fun when it works!

Update: Ok, it finally connected and I have played it for 3 days. I can say it wasn't too bad, especially for a free item. Here are the flaws:1: network sync is off and data reception over phone carrier networks make it worse- Why can't we connect over wifi and not just 4gLTE?2: on screen dialogs block user from choosing ctOS items when they highlight an armed item (ie: I am choosing three items quickly but the " is armed" notification covers it, thereby keeping me from choosing anything extra nearby)3: user game abandonment costs the user nothing and we gain nothing4: can connect to Uplay and PSN but cannot link my account to Xbox.

Can a mobile device and console (logged in under 1 ID) face off against one another? For example, a friend comes over and we just want to pick up and play, challenging each other. also, does playing on mobile app provide any benefits when switching over to the console version? (something like Mass Effect 3's global readiness) Or are the two versions completely separate?
  258. Didier on June 7, 2014
Once again and like with Assassin's Creed 4, I will not buy the game without Windows Phone Support. If you don't want to release an app for that platform then the game should be cheaper for Windows Phone users.
  259. metalman86 on June 7, 2014
@didier Wow, really? You actually expect special treatment just because you're a Windows phone user? The app is only a part of the online experience in Watch Dogs ( a pretty short one), it's not a part of the game as a whole.

Everyone complaining about Windows devices not being compatible should actually be thanking their lucky stars that you do not have to put up with all of the "network error" messages. I have the app on 4 compatible devices and have not been able to play once. The ONE time that I did connect to the network I sat in Que for an hour before giving up because I did not have my Xbox account linked yet. Now that the Xbox account is linked I cannot sign on. Way to make an app that should be 5 stars but just frustrates everyone with its bugs and compatibility issues.

  271. Ezrah McCall on June 10, 2014
Seriously? Cmon one of the prime reasons i bought an xbox one was for windows integration, I don't understand why it is any harder especially since you spent more than a year developing a full console game that uses windows architecture when you can't even publish it for a device with similar code requirements.

"Dante's Inferno" was dark, creative, and filled to the brim with violent sorrow and choices to be made that might lead to salvation or damnation. Aiden took a job that went wrong, he then suffered the consequences. "Battlefield Bad Company 2": I cannot fathom why anyone would choose a "Call Of Duty" game over a "Battlefield" game.
