This is the Stephane, Red Steel team’s resident bachelor!
I’m here today to let you know a bit more about the improvements and new graphic directions we have made since E3. The demo we had on display at the show was an early example of the game’s graphical potential and very much work in progress. Since we are working on a console that is also in its development stage we continue to learn new techniques all the time. We did feel that E3 was a little too early to show this demo but we were keen to get it into people’s hands and get some valued feedback. It was also a great opportunity for us to see people playing other Wii titles and compare these playing experiences to that of Red Steel. We are now focusing on evolving the overall graphical style into something very special that will be unique to Red Steel and form a strong identity & signature for the title, like no other game out there in the market. To summarise this style in words would be to say that it represents the intense culture shock received by a Western guy stepping onto the streets of Tokyo for the first time! In essence, we have focused a great deal on the key environmental differences between Japan and our own. We are also still developing the impact of the graphics on the way the player plays as well. 70’s “film noirs” are another source of inspiration as it lends itself well to the gangster & mafia atmosphere you’ll be immersed in while playing Red Steel. Therefore, this style is one of our key focuses, among many other of course. In addition, we’ve reworked the lighting system, improved textures & added even more breakable elements to the environments.
I’m happy to let you have a first look today! Keep posted, we will have more to reveal soon!
Cheers, Stephane

I love what I've seen yet. But couldn't you add some more polygons to round objects. It would look mutch better then I think. Wish mutch luck for developing the game and hope that the Wii including Red Steel release date will be really soon.

Wow! how many times of AA does this game run on? so little jaggies! Also, some surfaces could use some normal mapping to make for better overall presentation ;)

Maybe you guys are a bit tired about hearing always the same thing, but i made this and...
well, oh it looks so fine!! why don't you put blood in the game, and then an option to enable/disable it?? I know this game is not kill bill, and it's not about killing everything that moves but, blood would make it so inmersive. Because hitting full of air bodies is not fun at all :/. Katana = blood!!!
It should be up to me to choose whether to kill an enemie, stick the wiimote on his chest and twist it slooooowly while he screams full of pain or, if there's a higher benefit, like a new movement, combo, etc. alow him to live.
I Can't wait until Launch Day, This will defo be the first game i fight the old granny's for in my local GAME store, before moving on to Crisis:Day of disater and Wii Sports. I think this game looks awesome, keep up the great work and you will get the rewards you deserve

You can add blood but it will look like GTA then.
I think this game will rock because of the Japanese style.
A Dojo.
BTW Holland is ready for Red Steel so let it come.
Good Pictures also. Can you show us a new movie some of the days ;)

This game looks fantastic!
But I really think you should add some blood in it. I'm not telling you to flood this game with blood.
I just this it is a little unrealistic without blood.
And I'm sure there would be more people enjoying the game with blood ;)

I dont think Blood is necesssary in my opinion. I enjoy realism in games as much as the next guy, but Nintendo are going for a wider audience with this title. They have very strict certification rules. Still, a LITTLE wouldn't hurt.

Looks really good, especially the AA. I agree with the blood people though, I think a distinct lack of blood could detract from the experiance. Even just a little would be sufficient, or there's plenty of other options; maybe example a downloadable mod with a parental lock? If you could ESRB secure it then maybe that would work. In any case, it still looks great, so please keep up the good work. Thanks!!

Hello all,
This game is great, just keep going on the same direction. Regarding blood, if it is too hard to execute, or it'll create problems with you, then just leave it, the game looks great as it is now, however, a solution for the people who are so keen for blood, you can add some blood in the animated scenes, I guess that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh yeah, one more thing,
Any chance of getting the guns and grenades, and little bit smaller, if you did so, the whole thing will get a bit more professional. For example, the pistol looks a bit huge to me, and at some parts it looks a bit "toy-ish". I hope you consider this, but anything apart from that, the game is a masterpiece.
