I think the artwork is awesome, explendid work.
But... I think there’s little originality in this "corruption", because it gives the idea of being a dark clone of the Sands of Time. So, it as spread all over the world because of a mistake made by the Prince, It is mortal at contact and everyone o touch it become a slave without soul or feelings... What happens next? The prince come in contact with it and the corruption transforms is personality completely?

Definitely reminds me of Venom, but this looks darker and more sinister. I really feel that the Corruption will be a challenge to all of us because it looks like one of the most challenging PoP obstacle yet. Great job Ubi!

It looks like the scenery might be making a bit of a return to what we saw in Sands of Time. I enjoyed the 2nd & 3rd installment, but I always like the environments in SOT the most. These look very promising.

OK, this sounds really good and the artworks are really awesome too.
But one thing makes me tensed - similarity of this story with that of Sands of Time....only there's no Vizir(or is there?)...otherwise,the same mistake,same unleash of corruption(sands-in case of SoT),if the corruption touches people they become corrupted(sand monsters - SoT) and they try to block your path....
I really want to believe there is something different....in fact I would want everything is different. SoT succeeded for many reasons - one reason was definitely, originality of idea. Let's see.

But whatever...I'm anyway going to buy this game and play :) :)

@POP TEAM: The new POP game will be great, I'm sure of it but please, in the future, try and create another groundbreaking game, extremely original, like the SOT series were.

All this "Corruption" thing is very outdated now and apart from the fact that we saw it in SOT in an identical manner (not to mention in other games too), I really think that the POP universe should have less "DARK" stories. I mean I love the whole "BOOK OF PERSIA" idea, it's beyond great, but again, even though you think you can tell almost any story, the myth, magic, the "1001 Arabian Nights" feeling gets lost once you depict evil in such a dark manner.

For me, Prince of Persia will always be the greatest combination between the Arabian Nights universe and the Aladdin magical feeling. I'm not saying this new game will be bad (we've hardly seen anything yet) but I really think that 1 or 2 more titles like this and the POP fans will permanently and irreversibly lose interest in the saga.

the game already tears apart a huge part of the public due to the new feel ... it may be innovating, but PLEASE stop ruining the POP universe ... anyway, what I want to ask is for a way inside the OPTIONS menu, so that we can disable most of the next-gen effects, so that low-end PCs can play it ... and by that I mean at least let us play with a 256Mb AGP videocard, 1GB ram, WinXP and 2800 MHz single core CPU ... I think most low-end users have a configuration similar to this so please, at least let us play the game using that !!! forget marketing purposes and stuff, cause no hardware company is gonna pay you as much as we will (through a very increased numbers of sales) if you'll let us play the game on our old PCs ... I mean make it OUTSTANDING with graphics and stuff, but let us disable most features so that we can at least run the game. Thank you !!!

oh and ... don't worry about piracy, cause I for one, will pay the money for the game just to show you my gratitude if you will indeed make the game run on my current PC :D

I definitely agree ... the characters are very cheesy ones, looking like the bad dudes from Warcraft, etc. they are lame and have NOTHING (trust me, NOTHING) special ... furthermore, the whole new look for the prince ... sucks big time ... we want to see a kind man, sacrificing himself for the ones he loves, not some arrogant loner who can't wait to draw his sword ... come to think of it, I want to quote the prince from SOT: "I will win my father's pride not by killing, but by being the first to find the Maharaja's treasure vault and the wonders within" ... in case you've missed the point, I just wanted to remind you of the kind of person the old Prince was ;) and since you have Elika now, at least bring back the love for us, in the style of Prince + Farah ... u know, endless conversations about pretty much boring stuff BUT that was the magic of it !!! ( I now remember the time I've spent in the Library while I was trying to solve the puzzles and Farah was reading love poems, commenting lines with me over great distances :) )

That was really really one of the greatest interactions beetween the Prince and Farah, i just loved it!
I hope this new one get interections like those but... even if it get that we will never feel the same thing, we wouldn't get the same smile; because its different, it just another prince... not the one we love and know.
I heard Ben Mattes say that he stands "by it a 100%" (speaking of the controversial changes in the game), whell... i think a lot of fans will be very dissapointed with this POP4 and with Ubisoft Montreal.

A lot of the visual style of the Corruption reminds me, of many things, but most prominently how it acts as a strange mass like the Dark Water in 'Pirates of Dark Water'.

I loved that show, and its seems like a jacked up thing to go up against in POP. By now means is this bad, its actually making me want this game more than I already do.

What's with the negative comments?! Need I remind you, that the FRANCHISE CONTINUES, albeit without the Sands of Time trilogy? The Prince could fight the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause for all I care, I'll get the game as long as my computer can handle the requierments. there's no PS2 support cause of the technology ... a PS2 will never be able to interpret this kind of game ... it's a different architecture. ofcourse the prince will look different, it is another story, it is ubisofts choice if they want to make a prince that looks slightly like a manga character, it is also their choice if they want to briung elika into the story, who gives two craps if she is to powerful, maby the story will also include something about her power or her origin.

either way, no one has seen more than a couple of videos and pictures that dont really represent the game. dont forget that this game is still in production and things will change, the name will change. the appearance of characters could change, but i dont see why they should. it is okay for things to change.

man i was sad when the trilogy of prince of persia ended. but it ended well and im glad they aren't continuing with that story, if they continued to make games following that story line it would ruin my memory of the series and people would get bored of it.

therefore things have to change. deal with it and stop posting childish comments about how shit this game is going to be and just wait until you can actually see more of the game in order to judge. at the moment you have probably seen like 0.1% of this game and therefore dont know one thing about this game.

the game looks good, i like the gauntlet, i think its always good to have some sort of artifact or item that boosts your abilities, it keeps the game interesting. Of what i have seen so far of the game and enemies, they look detailed and interesting.
i must admit that the picture above me of the corrupted looks a bit like venom, but that is awsome!!
i'm sure this game will be awsome as have all of your other games, not only prince of persia games.

I’m not sure if you are intentionally trying to start a fight or if you are really that angry about what you’ve seen. If it’s that later, step away and take several long deep breaths. I’m not going to address all of what you wrote mainly because we know so little about the game, and you seem to be jumping to a lot of negative conclusions based on little information.

I’d kindly like you to prove this statement. First define what you classify as a kiddy game then tell me how this Prince of Persia game fits that criteria. I’m honestly curious why you think this way, and have hope that this will allow me to understand your thought process.

As for the part about continuing the PoP SOT series, why? I mean they completed that Prince’s tale, what’s the point of going back and dealing with him or his son? Why should they limit themselves by being saddle with everything from that story when they resolved it in an enjoyable manner? Why do you wish them to tell you the same story they already told you, in the same setting, with a slightly different protagonist?

Also in my view the prince isn’t some killing machine. He doesn’t have to bath in the blood of hundreds just to prove he’s a man. Heck I knew I’d like the prince during that moment in PoP SoT when he said that he would earn his fathers favor not by killing but by being the first to enter the treasure vault and discovers the wonders within. These are not the words of a man determined to kill everyone in sight or wage wars across the world. The Prince rejected that line of thinking so wonderfully in The Two Thrones, and yet you keep talking about his fighting skill as if that’s all he is, and has to offer.

Also, just so we’re clear the prince in SoT was raiding (Stealing) something valuable that didn’t belong to him. So the idea of this current Prince starting as a thief/adventurer really isn’t that far outside the norm for the PoP universe.

As to graphics, we’ve not seen the game in motion, but from the stills I don’t see the similarity to the games you listed. Also, this new prince being “Kiddy” doesn’t make sense to me. He’s an experienced adventurer who constantly blows his money on wine and women. What about that sounds like a role model for children? And how can you say anything about how the new Prince fights when you haven’t seen one game play video with him engaging his enemies? If you’ve seen such a video floating around please send me a link.

The last part I’m going to leave alone because you essentially start ranting and I’m honestly not sure what your trying to say beyond ‘This game sucks and I hope it fails so they make the game I want them to make.’ If you could clarify your statement I would be most appreciative.

I am currently 28 years old. I’ve been with the PoP series since The Sands of Time, which I loved far more than Warrior Within. At present I have every intention of picking up the new Prince of Persia at the earliest opportunity. I understand that you have a different opinion than mine, but your constant negative remarks, especially when we’ve seen nothing of the actual game play, baffle me. It’s like the PoP team at Ubisoft kicked your dog or some such.

I would encourage everyone to step back, and wait patiently for some real information to surface. Perhaps some will like it and others will hate it, which is fine, but I think we should at least give the game a chance before we deride it as terrible.

Okay, I think this will be the last thing I write until we see some actual game play videos.
Just for clarity sake the game is just titled “Prince of Persia”.

Theft is theft. You can dress it up however you like, you can say he had to defeat a guardian, or bypass fiendish traps. It was still stealing. Now our new Prince is a thief/adventurer, and you seem to ignore the adventurer part. We don’t know what obstacles this Prince has faced to get where he is or live like he does. The evidence seems to suggest that he is a master swordsman, and a cunning rogue. As for honor, the SoT Prince mentions honor in a fairly bitter manner at the end of Sand of Time. His quest for honor and glory had brought ruin and death to his world.

When we first met the SoT Prince, he was an untried fighter. All those great things you point too, he accomplished later. Our new Prince is not a rookie, and who knows what he’ll grow into. I mean, we find him engaged in a struggle against deity that can turn the very world against him. All he has to rely on is himself and a woman he barely knows. Sound familiar? You’ve come down on Ubi and the new Prince without knowing who is, what he’s capable, or what he could become.

Now you claim this is a Kiddy game because the moves are physically impossible. That doesn’t make any sense to me. I’ve played a ton of mature, engrossing games where the characters do things no human could do. Then there’s the fact that you are basing this off a pre rendered cinematic. You have no idea how he actually fights, and yet you want to condemned him for it, again this argument doesn’t make sense to me.

You have continually complained about things you haven’t seen. You’ve made assumptions with little or no basis and have proven nearly unwilling to even adopt a wait and see attitude. I suggest that you back away from the computer, and take several deep breaths. Clear your thoughts of your own assumptions and prejudices and approach this game with an open mind. You might just find yourself enjoying the game if you weren’t so hell-bent on hating it.

from what i have read, you are making decisions about what the game will be like, even though Ubisoft are keeping alot of this game under the covers. seeing as they predict this game will be out in the holidays on 08, im geussing that they are quite far into developement, however they want it to be a surprise.

Man this really pisses me off. Over 50 % of the comments in this blog are all negative ones. The game isn't even out yet and you've got people saying it's shit. Well sorry to piss on your parades but stop being so selfish and take into account that just because you don't like it so far, doesn't mean that I won't like it either.

I've been a fan of POP since it first started. I remember when I was like 12 or 13 when SOT came out and it was the coolest thing in the world. Then WW came out and I loved that one too, then over a year later I beat TTT in 4 days, the only thing I hated about TTT(and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people hated this too) was that you were stuck with a dagger for the entire game. I still hate that actually. But the point I'm trying to make is, I'm 16 now and I'm still a huge fan of the POP series. This game could suck and I'll still be a huge fan.


You guys have got to realize that the Developers at Ubi can't cater to all your needs. "I want this, I want that, why does the Prince looks like this, this is gay! Change this now!" STFU !! If you guys want certain things in a POP game then go and get a job with the POP development team. Oh whats that? They won't hire your sorry lame ass because your 35 years old and living in your mother's basement without even a high school level of education to your name? You seem surprised that they wouldn't hire you. I'm so sick of reading "I wanna see a nice prince that helps people!" Well people you aren't going to get that this game because this one has to do with his past. I've heard the rumored title is "POP : The ghosts of the past" or something with the past in it. He's a selfish,arrogant boy in this game. You could see the arrogance of the Prince in SOT at certain times. Even in TTT I found that the Prince had a certain arrogance within his humour. I understand and respect the fact that Ubi went back to show us the Prince's roots. I'd honestly prefer to see how it all started instead of playing a forth installment to the SOT trilogy. Yes the corruption story lines have been beaten to death, but the thing everyone is missing is that Ubi will find a way to make the story still remain interesting. They said in the new Speed art that it has to do with the battle between the God of good and the god of evil or whatever. Well the SOT trilogy had to do with Good vs. Evil and it was a smash success. If it isn't broken then there is no need to fix it. Anyways this will be an extremely long comment and I doubt anyone will read this. Hopefully some of the Ubi team reads it and adresses what I just stated. Or it would even be nice to see some of the people who are bashing the game already to read this and at least except what I am technically preaching in this super long comment.

Wait until the game is released and make your judgment. If they release a demo remember that it is just rough, nothing to fancy and it most definitely won't do it justice. From there you will either hate or love it. It's your opinion, your entitled to it, but if no one wants to hear it, then don't say it please.

im the same age as you, and i feel exactly the same way about the pop trilogy, im hoping that this game will be amazing to.

i really hate the fact that everyone is saying they hate everything about this game, even know we only know like less than 1% about this game.
people say that hate this game but in actual fact, all they know about is 3 characters, and the theme (corruption).

about this theme.
this theme may sound similar to SOT, however there are aspects about it that make it very different. the corruption is actually alive, which the sands wasn't - the sands were just a magical material that took form once it infected someone.

this corruption is of living origin. this corruption actually challenges the prince, whereas in SOT, the sand only challenged the prince once it took form.

as the person above me stated, this theme is a fight between two gods, and not something that the prince has caused. and i personally believe that this is a good view to come in at.

IF THE PRINCE WAS A WONDERFUL LITTLE BOY THEN THERE WOULDN'T BE A GAME ABOUT IT. ITS NOT GOING TO BE LIKE GRAND THEFT AUTO BUT INSTEAD OF SHOOTING PEOPLE YOU SAVE THEM. GET OVER IT!!!!

I've been following the game quite closely since the pic leaks last year and now that I'm finally seeing things come together, the more excited I'm getting. It's the middle of summer so therefore I have no life and I am following along with E3 and guess what I found....an friggin' E3 exclusive POP trailer. I'm glad to see that they're bringing new life to the series. It's about time that they shine some light on the Prince's past. They colours and the prince's movements in this game look to be much brighter and fluid then the last 3 games ( THANK YOU UBI FOR THAT!! :D) soo anyways here is the trailer. It's orgasmic.
