Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online is being released on Steam and PC on April 10 as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms. Confused? That’s okay. We’ve got answers. With all the changes the game has undergone since it’s conception, the team felt it deserved a “fresh identity,” as Produce Corey Facteau explained. For more on the name change including why exactly it happened and what changes have been made, take a look at this full Q&A with Facteau.
This new identity comes with a slew of new changes and features. Even the game’s graphics have been overhauled with different level design and lighting. There are now new character classes, new gear and plans for even more following the launch of the popular free-to-play tactical, third-person shooter. When the game launches there will also be some new changes made to the matchmaking and customization options in the game. When joining a match, both your skills and your gear will be taken into account to ensure a more fair and balanced experience. There is also a new “Mod Master” and weapon camo system coming for launch, the details of which will be revealed in a community video coming soon.
Following the launch the team has plans to continue developing new features and weapons to further enhance play. As we’ve discussed on the blog before, they are currently playtesting and tuning Tactical Instertions and Smoke Grenades. Keep an eye on the blog as the official launch date draws closer, and start playing now (for free) at the official website.
