Hi everyone! It’s sure nice to see some old AND new faces around here. For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Kimi and I’m a Community Developer here at Ubisoft. Our good friend Arres has departed for different pastures (thanks Arres for all that you did!), so you can anticipate seeing me more around these parts.

To start, I come bearing new things! A new trailer/commentary video has been posted up on GameSpot for your perusal. If you haven’t already seen it, go have a look see!

If you already saw it, you may want to see it again, because you might not have noticed some cool things like:
· Guy catching fire at 00:28
· Bored guy at 00:50
· Lions at 1:12
· Real zebras, then game zebras at 1:22 (did you notice the difference?!)
· HOT faction logos at 1:52
· Boat at 2:12
· NPC’s just doing their thing at 2:13
· 2 for 1 kill at 2:42
· Sexy Ubidays logo at 2:55

Pretty cool huh? We have much more where this came from, that you can see at Ubidays!

We’ve made some leaps and bounds recently, so we wanted to take the opportunity to share a bit of the goodness with you. For you, we’ve taken a couple of shots in the game to show you the lighting that was implemented. Enjoy!

Today we have a blog-exclusive in-game shot of one of our characters running on PC in the highest quality setting available, the same level of quality preserved in the console versions.

Asking our Art Director for an explanation of what we're seeing, he had this to say:

"Our in-game characters vary from 6000 to 12000 polygons depending on the complexity of the actual character and are developed using an innovative pipeline that allows us to excel on two fronts that are usually opposites: variety and quality. This pipeline begins with the actual modeling of the character in various interchangeable sections, onto the usage of generic normal map packages to ensure the highest possible resolution right down to our custom in-house skin and cloth shaders that allow for maximum resolution from any distance."

I'm sure the techies in the crowd will understand that. For the rest of us, well, let's just say that it looks really good.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen numerous sites online, including Ubisoft’s own, report that Far Cry 2 is now scheduled for a Fall 2008 release.

Today, our Producer LP confirms this directly from the development team, and he shows off some new gameplay footage. The game will ship simultaneously on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 and will be polished on all platforms so the quality and features of each will be top-notch.
